I remember meeting Grete and I had no idea who she was and she was so humble. I met her at Boston about 13 years ago and my husband had to tell me who she was.. I also saw her and saw her speak at an avon race talk for NYRR. She was a doll. She is a true inspiration and she was so unassuming.

I channel this woman Grete when I run races. I love both of these women bc they are the ones who broke the mold for runners.

Not even four weeks later she died. This is so, so sad. May you rest in piece, Grete!
