I havent seen that goal for years,i can remember Hugh Johns and Star Soccer and i can remember this goal from Greenhoff and i have always said what a fantastic goal it was ,if it had been on MOTD it would have won Goal of the season easy. The Stoke teams of the early to mid 70*s was a great team to watch and i think at the time of this game were top of the old 1st Division .I always thought with a bit more luck you could have had more silverware than just the 72 League Cup.
OH JIMMY JIMMY, JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY GREENHOFF. one of the best touch players ever. You would have to import someone like Jimmy for about £30 million now eh??
He could always play football WITHOUT the ball in that he would run into some great position. He only played 31 times scoring 14 goals for Birmingham but he was one of those players that you could not take your eyes off him. Yes I tried to played like him as a 16-year-old when I played for a youth team by making those runs off the ball.
Thanks for posting that up. What a superb goal that was even against Birmingham. I was gutted when Jimmy Greenhoff left Birmingham for Stoke City but he was always my schoolboy hero. Sunday afternoon football with Hugh John`s. At least you would see a MIDLAND team every week. Not like `Match of the Day` when they show B`ham City for 30 seconds before midnight.
what a class act he was, great player for manchester united.

Jimmy, Brum's loss was most certainly Stokes gain. I was always Jimmy when playing in the streets with my mates as a lad. :)

Quality.
It broke my heart when Jimmy was sold to the scum. And for a measly £100,000 or so.
