my husband used to play this song all the time and sing it to me he luved marvin. i didn't really grab the meaning of it til 1 night we were fussing on the drive home.. it came on the radio & i got it and it made me realize how precious he was to me.. he died a few months later suddenly ( much b4 his time)..whenever i hear this song, its bittersweet- he loved me very much, but he's no longer here to show it...still missing him after all these years but still trusting that God knew what was best!

Every artist has a story to tell. If you listen closely, even though his heart was broken, he himself was so open to love, healing and change. That's his legacy. Marvin saw changes before his time, he was from another world and pleaded for universal acceptance. His passing is a reminder of a man who can only do so much, and it's up to US to be responsible for our actions to the environment and one another to create the harmony he offered through song. when my husband got stabbed this was the song that stayed in hishead while the helicopter came to get him...this is our song, marvin gaye putt it down when he made this, its so beautiful and aint no song i heard like this one that could express true love..i love you brad mckee..and marvin helped me threw it...my husband lived threw the stabbing he almost died and when i went to visit him i sang this song to him and we were both crying...
