This is why I like my school, we have a teacher that actually wants to help and joined the Milk Project, a charity that collects money to get real human breast milk to children of HIV/AIDS mothers in Africa. It's also pretty cool because during the presentation, anyone who fucks around during the presentation gets suspended for a day.
Are you running World community Grid on your computer? You can help find cures for stuff like A,I.D.S and cancer by crunching data from Stanford university.
I actually have a little contest going on were I give out $100 a month to my team members. Whoever crunches the most data gets the biggest chunk of the data gets the biggest chunk of the prize money.
I would probably take more space than what's allowed her to really explain it.
Try not to worry if you accidentally "made up" a word. Every word you've ever heard from every language was at some point just made up. All you're doing is furthering linguistic evolution.
The way I see it, as long as the message you're trying to convey is understood, that's all that matters.
Of course, you can't just start making ANYTHING up... For example, if you were to say "Today was real zogorithunk"... there might be some issues.
Well, seeing how the English language is already a Frankenstein of dozens of other languages, it's hard not to butcher it! Though I refuse to say "Nucular". Or Stratiegery.
Sweet. I agree w/ you Pandy - pet causes like this are simply there so people don't have to feel so bad about their crass commercial greed. Just like me when I tossed some pocket change in the bell ringer's bucket right after dropping a couple hundred bucks on presents at WallyWorld on black friday.
It's like people who pray, or have those stupid support the troops ribbons. Not only are they not doing anything useful, they expect adulation as well. Useless lazy cunts!
Yesterday I took part in a W.A.D event, I was in one of the groups that did the 'entertainment'. I was pissed about the line-up though, because the first 3 groups that were on were dance troupes. They didn't say a word about AIDS. Our group spent a month making a video project to raise awareness and then when it's our turn to take the stage, no one pays any attention! It's like, 'don't come to a W.A.D event if all you're interested in is dancers and free cake!' No one gave a crap about the cause
If it makes you feel better, I didn't twat, or is it is twit or tweet??, at all today. Also, I didn't go to Starbucks.
I gave a pretty girl with big boobs $20 to cut my hair and I paid $18 for a pizza and some cheesie bread, Other than that, I didn't do anything for anybody.
Honestly, I think doing anything for "awareness" for any disease is just stupid people trying to hide the fact that they don't give half a fuck. When I get a Twitter update about you going to the mall with your "bffl" typed in black, I still know about AIDS. We're all aware of AIDS. Unless you've lived under a rock for the last twenty years, you know that there's a lot of untreated AIDS cases in Africa.
I don't think people in Africa are properly informed about AIDS, but I don't think me tweeting in red is going to help that. And I think some people are misinformed on the usage of protection by religious figures (The Pope), but me tweeting in red also won't help that.
But on a more positive note, I think this is the most efficient thing I've seen anyone do for World AIDS day, in reality. You're expressing your opinions on the matter, sparking the drive to take action, and I thank you for that.
Hooray for world AIDS day!!! =( ..... hmmmmm... here's some video commentary to consider...

If we choose, we can live in a world of comforting illusion.
The United States is unusual among the industrial democracies in the rigidity of the system of ideological control - "indoctrination," we might say - exercised through the mass media.
Condoms aren't the issue in Africa, at least not as far as AIDS goes. The Catholic Church has told people in the African nations that condoms are evil and not to use them.
There is also a certain stigma that goes along with wearing a condom over there, Kind of like, "real men don't wear rubbers".

I don't know why rolling your eyes and saying fuck off in a exacerbated tone can be so satisfying but it damn well is.

And btw, I am going to make a point of saying "injustification" in my normal speech from this point on. :) An excellent Pandyism.

That sucks. I'm glad that you truly made an effort, though. I really do applaud people who actually give a shit about things.

If Erin Blake has a paypal account, one could donate money to her to ship the condoms INSTEAD of pay too much for too little coffee.

I don't think the pope knows about AIDS. What with that whole condom fiasco.

I've actually been considering that. I was thinking of starting a condom donation program. What do you think?

Imagine what people would think if you, a tattooed, pierced, short haired punk teen, started handing out contraceptives.
Now ask yourself.
Would YOU take condoms from you?
...
...
...
Yeah. Thought so.

I would take condoms from me and only me!
And I'm 23, you bastard!
