He may be good, but the sound quality of this clip makes it not worth listening to. If he had done it in the quiet of his lounge at home, it wouldn have been much better.
Tubas come in all differnt shapes sizes pitches and to answer your question differnt styles of valves and valve placements and number of valves. I suggest doing a little research on your own :)
Nice tonging. I used to play tuba. That was the solo I played at solo and ensemble and got a 1 on. I didn't double tongue it or anything though...great job!
my teacher told me, if i want to improve my double tounging, when yore on your way to school, work, waiting on a bus, on youre way over to a friends house, pretend youre a train, and pernounse this sound "tchjuku", start slow, and then faster and faster, and then on the mouth piece, and then the tuba
I know, it's a matter of trainging. Tuba is used to keep tempo and trumpet is just the pretty sounding melody that gose along with it. So a tuba dosen't ever play as fast as a trumpet usually dose. And besides, even they they both have three keys, a trumpet is designed to a melody/soloits intrument. It's just built to sound that way.
I've checked with a Chicago tuba player of some repute. He has assured me that this is Micky Wrobleski, who is currently playing in Beijing. Micky played TubaChristmas with the ensemble one year at the Woodstock Opera House in Illinois. He played every note of the concert one octave lower than written. He's an amazing musician.
pretty good in certain areas. most of the time it sounded like jibberish. couldnt tell what you were playing half the time cause of the dumb percussionists in the background.
hey, Ive played that before and it is an extreamley hard version for double tounging and other stuff so he is quite skilled... He has a great tone and clear, except for the background noise... what model is that tuba?
sure, it probably sounded like slop, listen to oystein Baadsvicks recording. So, are you the son of a professional tubist, because ive never heard of you
@Smithie2012 sure you can play in any key, but not perfectly in tune :p

What is that horn??
theanalogkid7 3 years ago
From this angle it looks like a 6/4 Kalison CC. It would either be a model 2000 or 2001. The leadpipe does look like it has been changed...

I play tuba, but my double tounging is way to sloppy to go that fast yet, i'm only a freshman, though, and i'm the section leader.

Tuba's used most of the time to add weight to the texture of most ensembles.
Love his double tonguing. The 1st minute is sloppy lol. Gets even better as it goes on, so 4ward it if ur not impressed!
I will be better than him one day! fingers Xd!
The seems like in a break of a rehearsal, not sure he's even warmed up 2 begin with!
when he's on form I bet he's genius!

All I've seen you do is brag how good you are and then you don't know that the proper trill would be to a C w/ 1. You are in no form better
thesousabone 4 years ago
solo pomposo is easy, I played that before I played C of V.

you're absolutley right, it's a piece of paper. What comes out of the horn is music and this guy does it right.

What a strange facing leadpipe on that horn. Great playing! Too bad the sound of the convention was so loud in its interference.
