You shouldn't go out in weather like this unless you've been bashed up a fair few times in 20 knots. Even though you know to let go of the bar and rip the quick release the first few times its not your first reaction, the bar feels like something safe and people instinctively cling to it in a tight situation, once you've been ragdolled once or twice you develop new instincts.
yea bout our bad rep pulld safety for my friend it workd perfect!!! yea i pulled the safety on mine i flew a 9 yarga at dauphin i couldnt eject so i balled up in a ball and baild my board and sense i wasnt lockd n on my chickn loop it disconnected after i hit the water violent ride tho lol but its water so..
wat about sports like motercross plp die all the time in it and car racing wy are those banned too if they ban our sport??? thats wat makes me so fn angry.. Freedom America? right..
I know this sounds mean, but he kind of deserved since he was stupid enough to do this during a tropical storm that had 55 mph winds at the time and produced gusts up to 45 mph in the area. It's kind of like watching the Wile E. Coyote from the old Warner Bros cartoons.
i guess he was a little dumb..but mainly because he didn't know how to handle the conditiions. You have to watch your surroundings.. and if you have a strong gust you should flag out your kite (lose all the power in it) or keep it low for someone to grab it and secure it.
i saw this on the news and was like.. whuuuu. aparently somebody who decided to make the worse decision, died bye jumping into the ocean with this thing. some people are just completly idiodic.
kiters look for those conditions but some just dont know how to deal with them.. it looks idiotic but you could be put in the same situation if you kited, winds were only around 15MPH when he was kiting then a sudden 50mph gust came. he had his kite up high so it pulled him up he couldve landed the kite before the gust came or the gust couldve hit and if he didnt have his high kite high he wouldve just been dragged on the beach and he couldve let go of the kite.

Valiant effort. I hope he survives and learns not to play with Mother Earth.

Glad to hear that...let it be a lesson learnt...too bad the wall was in the way...looked like it would have been fun otherwise.

kiteboarding has a bad reputation after this incident
naishkiter10882 3 years ago
bad rep because people who have no clue harness that power with no training... the quick release would have jettisoned the kite if he pulled it

Can't you just let go of the kite?
HappyKmore 3 years ago
you can.. but its a matter of a 1/10 of a second. in this scenario he shouldve kept his kite low and let someone land it.
