This has happened to me before! Only I was free lancing not free schooling! And the horse jumped a metal gate not a fence and landed on concrete.. Thank god he wasn't lame ! haha love this! :L

XD it's more the reaction of horses AFTER they do things like this that make me laugh! XD I love how they put thier tail in the air and trot away like "OOOH!!! YES THAT JUST HAPPEND! WHAT NOW!!!" XD Instead of getting mad at horses when they do this it makes me go...ok...you got me and i just laugh at them and catch them again!

I know this definitely wasn't planned, but you are so lucky she didn't hurt herself. If she was going faster she could have really hurt herself over that.

Scopey, but you've got to be careful with horses sometimes :)

@TheBlessedEquestrian Yeah I know, that is why after this incident she wasn't free jumped again... and probs will never be unless in a very secure area...

and to clarify if she was going faster she would have actually cleared with greater ease, as jumping from canter is alot easier

I understand about the trot/center thing, just I had the image in my head of her cantering unbalenced (or indeed out of controll), sorry I should have been more clear.

I have a lot of respect for you for not free jumping her again after the incident, just this sort of thing happened to my pony and he wouldn't jump at all for years after. He was cantering, out of control, and when he tried to jump the fence, well he didn't, just sort of flipped over it.

@TheBlessedEquestrian Yeah I know, exactly my reason not to do it, was just so glad I'd decided to put all her boots on at the time... so many things that could have gone wrong cus not only was this fence quite high it was also about 3 feet wide because of electric wire on the other side.. luckily she jumped over a wheelbarrow so could gage the distance properly :O
