@conceitarturo You can't be serious. You went to an artist's work to diss them? Really?
For one thing, you can't just generalize an entire body of artworks into two separate categories of "this show" and "Japanese genga animatics."
And if anything else, it's the opposite. Consider this is a storyboard. The actual episode has an astounding amount of work done for each frame whereas there are notable Japanese animatics, there are also some decent ones, and some downright disappointing ones.
@conceitarturo And for another thing, you used the word "actual" to phrase the difference between "this show" and "japanese" work--for this you must have considered Avatar to be a Japanese piece of work. While it is "anime" is debatable, I have to sincerely disagree that Avatar was created by Mike and Bryan, two Americans.
Although you do have the free choice to voice your opinion, please consider the weight of your words before the artist himself is sitting down and reading them.
@alphawolfnami well, I simply had no idea this was the artist's youtube page. The page doesnt give any info it's just a generic YT name...I wouldnt have imagined this could be the artist's page, I came here from a few genga animatics and I just stated what I saw. I am sorry about that...I couldn't come up with an animatic like this so I have a lot of respect for his ability to do this...the action in Avatar was always incredible! I was always ecstatic to see everybody's use of their element.
@Ansteven91 Yes, I am aware of that. However, the rights are to Mike and Bryan. Mike and Bryan are American. The writers, Aaron Ehasz, Tim Hedrick, and Nick Malis are American. The directors, Lauren MacMullan, Dave Filoni, Giancarlo Volpe, Ethan Spaulding, andJoauim Santos are American. The writers, story boarders, directors, musicians, voice actors, and composters are American. The company, Nickelodeon, is American. The country of origin is established to be, no surprise, USA.
Just went through the whole series on DVD in 2-3 days (yes, I lost track). I must say, it's awfully 'animated' for an animatic. My story boarding teacher thought I was crazy for animating the arm movements for a character casting a spell!
It was all so silent, and then Aang's like "Momo, time for you to go" It actually make me jump!XD But seriously. the time and effort they put into this series is OUTSTANDING! I LOVE IT!!!!!!
I could watch the whole series just through the animatics, they're so well done! It really makes me want to improve my skills and make better animatics. Also what I really loved is that the animatic shows clearly how much attention was brought to composition, each plan is so strong, that's amazing! Great, great job! I admire you...
This is one of those shows where if it's on, I'm going to have to sit down and watch it. Even if it's the 2 hour finale. This show is my inspiration and motivation when I can't get started on an animation. To work with the team of this show would be the most amazing chance of a lifetime! Just as the avatar gives Zuko hope, this show gives me hope for the future of animation.
I miss this show!

Animatics for Avatar Finale.
All rights are reserved in Nickelodeon.
Bryan and I split Aang / Ozai Fight Sequence.
Bryan did Ozai beating Aang, and I did Avatar Aang beating Ozai.
It was FUN!!
