  • She said please stay

Burning every bridge that I cross

To find some beautiful place to get lost

To find some beautiful place to get lost

(Love you for ever, let's burn together my little bee)

  • So im new to his awesomeness..... can anyone give me his best album names. this is a man you buy in bundle!

  • 22yonkers: Many bands are influenced (let's use that instead of "steal") from the Beatles, including Radiohead. I'm hearing more Neil Young than Beatles in the chord changes here.

  • elliott smith stole from the beatles as much as the beatles stole from ray davies and the kinks

  • @22yonkers All i have to say is that your a fucking idiot! The beatles were around before the kinks were. In my opinion Elliott Smith Id amazingly talented, and so are the beatles. When it all comes down to it, its ALL great music. JUST LISTEN TO IT AND DONT COMPLAIN.

  • Glad I got see him twice live before he passed.

  • This issue is real simple...here it is...ready?

    Good Musicians Borrow...

    Great Musicians STEAL!!!!

  • @MegaMandrake99 Nice stolen Picasso quote there. :D

  • its sounds nothing like dear prudence--a bit like mother natures son perhaps at the beginning, but guess what?--he's got the same signs as mccartney (leo/gemini) in reverse sun/moon position, yo--for real

  • Every artists steals.

  • @ChaseSpross disagree. most artists are INSPIRED by others work. stealing other peoples work...that's reserved strictly for assholes

  • @thestudlybudly well we will just have to agree to agree that you're an idiot.

  • @ChaseSpross even IF you and i weren't talking semantics...your comment was still referring to an elliott smith song. for anybody to insinuate that elliott himself stole music is absolutely preposterous

  • Name me one pop musician since 1970 who's not influenced by the Beatles directly or indirectly. And the Beatles were themselves "ripping off" R&B and rockabilly, and they were ripping off the blues, and they were ripping off gospel, and they were ripping off West African folk music, so, fuck it man, who cares if Elliott Smith sounds like anyone. It's called "culture".

  • every musician in the last 50 years "stole" something from the beatles.. his songs are the reallest (-?) thing ive herd..

  • sorry butall mucisians steal because any combo with notes that sound good has been done, just go far back enough and you'll see someone already did it. so at this point its about using same note comos in new ways playing with effects rythm etc.. thats what gives the illution of somthing new :) And i dont wanna hear sell out 1 more time we work jobs not live our dreams so we are almost all sell outs lol

  • what? elliott smith isn't a beatle?

  • I think Elliott Smith sounds very different from The Beatles. His are more emotional and deep.

  • i cry to this song when I don't get laid

  • I'm tired of everyone saying that someone stole something from someone else. There are only so many chord progressions in the world, there are bound to be similar ones.

  • is the title wrong ? anyway, great song

  • who the fuck cares..

  • the descending notes in the beginning are just a diatonic scale you fucking jackass.

  • Love you Elliott always

    XO

  • It's: "lets get lost"*

    NOT: "lests get lost"

I think it might be a good idea if you fixed the title. It might help people find this clip a bit easier.

  • who cares that he took influence from the Beatles, who didn't?? The truth of the matter - Elliott was the closest thing to TRULY original music I've heard in my life. He was the mozart, the Beethoven of our generation - he was a true composer.

We will never see another talent as beautiful and unique as Elliott Smith - I say god bless this man, he brings out a part of us that is truly human and humane.

  • @shadrussell

I agree with this man and I must add that who the hell hasn't been influenced INTENSELY by the glorious force of Nature known as The Beatles?! ha.

  • @shadrussell hey. you really know how to say things!

  • @shadrussell I couldnt agree more...he WAS something special, and NOT everyone "gets" his music. He was pivotal for me in the last two years. It takes a certain set of circumstances to fully appreciate his work, lyrically speaking that is.

  • @shadrussell he is not mozart nor beethoven he is bigger then anything that existed be4.....and he will be 4ever one of the best artists/songwritters in the world

  • they weren't stolen. they were inspired by The Beatles. I can tell. Elliott was too good to steal anything.

  • @beatledrummer92 except our hearts

  • doesnt even sound like Dear Prudence...

  • no they are not, open your ears. they are totally different notes. yes, both songs contain descending notes in the beginning but they are very different and they evolve differently as well. no offense by the way. i don't want an internet fight.

  • anthem of my life

  • is it!?

  • burning every bridge

  • hehe i was joking around but you cannot tell that on you tube lol

  • as long as u keep finding beautiful places WTF?

  • amazing...:X:X

  • INCREDIBLE...love this song. missing elliot a lot these days, although his music will live forever.

  • There's actually a couple of these pitures that I haven't seen...

  • I love his music...his lyrics and melodies make me dream
