  • @CharlesStJames: I do 4 sets of 25 push ups. After each set I do 20 curls a piece for each arm. Is doing the push ups for a minute 3 times better than what I do now. And can I still do curls after that. And also can I do this Monday threw Saturday~

  • @YoungReggie85 You can do the pushup challenge Mon-Sat. It might be hard to do this challenge between working your arms. You'll find that you"ll do quite a bit more than 25 push ups per set. Try this, do as many push up as you can in 1 min on the first set only, then work out like you do normally. You"ll be smoked after that.

  • I just wanna say thanks for this VIDEO man it really inspired me because i am on a fitness journey as well. my biggest issue is WORKING OUT! I WEIGH ABOUT 303, my mission is to not get skinny but to cut this fat and tone up. I can not afford expensive supplements or shakes. what are some foods i can eat or simply works to reach my goal of 250-270? any help would be awesome. once agian thanks for the vid.

  • @famouswrider the best one i've seen so far is hydroxycut by muscletech. it might have some side effects, but i consider them pretty tame compared to other appetite suppressants out there. FYI: You should consult your physician before trying out anything in the market. If you don't want to take that though there is always that all protein diet --> I don't recommend this for anyone considering the risks, but among any diet program this seems to be the best and you don't have to pay for anything.

  • wouldnt doing all those press ups every day be bad, because wouldnt your muscle fibres need time to recover and rip before u do more and more??

  • @Flexah93 Ripping and Recovering gets a little bit into bodybuilding. But think of this, NFL player sprint each day, on every play. Sprinting is a very explosive movement, more explosive than pushups. Yet it is done every play. Your body has tremendous endurance when using just your body weight. But, you definitely should NOT Bench press everyday. You would need time to recover from exercises like that. But not stuff like push ups, sit ups, chopping wood, digging holes..ect.

  • @Flexah93 Another example is a gymnast. Think of how muscular the male gymnast looks. Yet he simply uses his body weight. And the last example would be Hershell Walker. He does over a thousand pushups each day....I hope I spelled his name right.

  • @CharlesStJames hmm ok would it be wise do u think if i were to do this 1 minute press up a day challenge on top of a regular workout routine, or just one or the other?

i use resistance bands 2 workout at home, i dont go gym no more (never enough time)

  • @CharlesStJames could u do a regular tricep workout routine (once a week) aswell as doing this every day, or will that be ill-advised??

  • @CharlesStJames I saw your comment about Herschel walker, he only eats a few g of protein a day do u think he is a genetic freak or is all the hype about protein a little exaggerated? Does military training focus on lots of protein?

  • @TheSundayScoop Herschel Walker was definitely a FREAK. His size and speed, along with his strength were legendary. But, The way most of these companies push there protein products is mostly hype. Man, you don't need all that stuff. I spent years buying everything you can think of, but when I finally bench 405LBS, I wasn't taking ANYTHING AT ALL. NOTHING. All I normally take now is vitamins, maybe a shake once a week. So if you by supplements buy what you need only.

  • @TheSundayScoop As far as the Army goes, for the most part, the Army focuses on complete nutrition....carbs, proteins, and fats. No high protein diets, but diets designed to keep energy up and fatigue low. Total nutrition normally works best.

  • @CharlesStJames lol don't know what army your talking about..

But all I get to eat in the field is some fucking tuna cans and stale bread..

    3 times a day..

Now if were back at the base then there are a lot of carbs (mostly unlimited..)

And a rather small amount of protein (eggs in the morning meat in the afternoon and eggs again in the evening :D) this is what u usually get also veges unlimited..

once or twice ud get pancakes! :D sad huh?

  • when i was 15 i could do 73 in one minute, iam now 16 and i can only do 47 ??? is this because i am not focusing on muscular endurance and gained a bit more upper body muscel; or should this have no effect? i guess if i do this twice a day i should get back to the high 70's ? thanks.

  • @slipn14 Great question! I will answer these question in an upcoming video. I could answer it now, but it would be a short answer due to typing limitations.

  • @CharlesStJames ok thanks verry much :)

  • @CharlesStJames I've been doing about 4-7 sets of 50-60+ pushups a day for the last couple weeks and I've noticed my chest get bigger but is there a way that I can get my arms (biceps, forearms) bigger with a pushup routine? I don't go to a gym nor do I have weights - I do have a pull-up bar. Great videos by the way!

  • @ThePimpinGrandpa YES...well kinda. When you do pushups you also work the triceps, which will defiantly add size to the arms. If you want more triceps work when doing push ups, try putting your hands closer together...close hand pushups. As far as the biceps go, if you are doing pull ups, there isn't a much better exercise for them. Play with your hand placement, to insure that you feel it in your biceps mostly. with pull ups you'll also get a nice thick back, and V shape.

  • @CharlesStJames Thanks man, I'll be sure to try that out once this sickness wears off.

  • @CharlesStJames So i do weights for chest twice a week and i lift pretty heavy, so i am sore a day or 2 after the workout, so how could i incorporate this routine into my week without over training?

  • @TheSundayScoop You could take a page from my book. If I work chest on Monday and do it again later in the week, one of my workout will normally be Heavier (focusing on strength) and one of them will be lighter (focusing on muscular endurance). I would recommend that you only do this on the days that you go for muscular endurance on the chest, and look at it like it's a workout. Like this.

    1. 1 Min push up challenge x 3 sets

    2. Incline Press x3

    3. Flyes x3

    4. Decline Press x3

  • Thanks man i reall appreciate people like you who dont benefit very much of off this but still take time to post these videos, i have spent years perfecting technique as a qb and reading the field, not to brag im really good but i want to build a bigger chest and body in general to take the hits (my o line is mediocre at best) :p

  • @LPlionsQB No problem bro. I enjoy spreading my knowledge with those that want to learn and better themselves. Also, I know a little bit about football. I was a Blue Chip running back years ago, and got some attention from the Seattle Sea hawks. Because you've shown interest, I will do another video soon, focusing on the chest. But as a QB, you need strong shoulders as well, to include the inner shoulder (S.I.T.S. muscles) to keep your shoulder strong internally.

  • @CharlesStJames Yeah i my coaches have been helping me with my shoulders, and thanks im looking forward to it.

  • haha i'm gonna try this, expect a video reply in a bit.

  • If we were judging your push ups based on Military standards you did about 3 push ups.You didn't break the plank and your body was shaking and wobbling a lot.

  • @dontloseyourfingers Brother, I am an Active Duty Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army. My body stayed in a “generally” straight line. There is no such thing as a “perfect” pushup, mine were correct. I think it’s clear that I can MAX my pushups. But if you can, send me a video with you doing more pushups in 1 minute.

  • @CharlesStJames Roger SSG

  • @dontloseyourfingers Thanks Bro. This challenge is not affiliated with the Army in any way, but rather it is a challenge for bragging rights. MrMonkeyMangos says he topped me with 75. I'm gonna see if I can get 76. As long as the pushups look decent, they count. No TC 3-22.20 (Official Military) standards, but they should look good.

  • You did 75 it 1 minute? You topped me...you're a BEAST! Hhhhmmmm...Let me see if I can get 76....

  • its was 75

  • @MrMonkeyMangos You are a Beast. I will try to top you.

  • Also...Herschel Walker has built a fantastic upper body doing 3500 sit ups and 1500 push ups every day

  • Also...Hersell Walker has built a fantastic doing 1000 push ups every day!

  • Pushups is one of those exercises that you can do pretty much everyday. You will not stress the muscle the same way that training with weights does. The 1 minute push up challenge tests enduring strength, not 1 rep max strength. 3 times a day would be a similar technique to what the United States Army uses for its basic training soldiers. 48 hours recovery would not be needed for this type of routine, once someone became familiar with working the muscles on a regular basis. ---Stay Motivated!

  • 3 times a day? can you explain why ?

i know that muscels need 48 hours to recover and build

  • DAMN!! thats pretty cool
