It evolved into a queen because it needed to repopulate. It would not make sense for it to become a praetorian because they are the royal guard (in my opinion). Why would it become a praetorian if it had nothing to guard.

Actually, they differ in genders. There are males and females, but only the females can evolve into queens (Six case). There's a king, but he was bred inside human labs. The Queen can produce eggs without any males to do it. The circle of the male also differ from the female, since the stages of the male are the drone, warrior and praetorian stage and so the female, but the females can become Queens, or already born as Queens. Search for Xenopedia and you will see. Sorry for my bad english.

@TheXLR8PrO also 6 was a WARRIOR. Not a drone. maybe warriors don't release the pheromone. Also 6 was alone on a spaceship. There were NO ALIENS to attack 6.

@TheXLR8PrO any alien must go through the Praetorian stage before it can become queen. Praetorians don't have 4 arms either. I should know, since I watched it scream a lot in campaign and survivor and there were not 4 arms

Queens are much bigger than drones, have a head crest and four arms. Xenomorphs are either all female, or genderless until one comes to the stage where it evolves into a queen. When an old queen dies the next most probable alien metamorphose into the new queen.

The only reason why 6 isn't a PraeTorean. When an Alien Drone becomes a PraeTorean it emits a strong pheromone which makes the Hive angry. And as we don't see any other aliens attacking 6 she obviusly is a queen. And to the people saying its a queen because of the arms, Praetoreans have four arms too.

Actually, the facehuggers are the alien males, and the big ones are the females. Only the queen however produces males. They are much like living like ants, but in a parasitic way.

Facehuggers cannot, as they die when they are done pushing alien semen down the human throat (which PROVEs thay they are male) Chestbusters don't grow into the queen, they grow into an adult female, and only then she can morph into the queen. Even if the chestbuster counts as an alien youth, young aliens can't morph into the queen at that stage.

I just finished the game, saving the alien missions for last. It's every thing I wanted it to be, but the morphing of 6 to a queen is odd, but I was listening to the audio daries and Karl Bishop Weyland says that six is like a daughter to him. So I'm thinking they K.B. Weyland had six made. Also in the alien ending six was called she by one of the team members who took her when they found her passed out. So I guess you fuck with nature and you won't know what will happen.

the king is 2-times bigger and stronger than the drones,but the drones are still faster than kings.the kings only have 2 arms.the queen is alot bigger than the kings though.maybe 4-times bigger.predators try and only keep one queen captive because they didn't want more baby aliens and drones than they can handle.to them,one queen is enough.they keep the queen alive at all times,but they make sure that she isn't set free because if she is then they are all doomed.watch avp1 if you don't beleive.

@dragondrawer1 ... That's not a king, you git. Those are praetorians, they're drones who matured into a next phase of development and they're rare. They have nothing to do with reproduction. The only kings the AvP franchise has ever seen were a Kenner toy that's irrelevant to any of the canons, and the Rogue. Who was an artificially created male queen, and was the first and last of his kind.

there is an alien king,but there's more than one.you only fight them in the marine campaign.just like predalien,you only fight it in the predator campaign.it's wierd how if the queen dies,her best warrior gets in so much pain.then it finds the nearest,biggest,safest place,stays there,gets put to a wall,sits there,and it's old skin gets ripped off,then it becomes the new queen.wierd how it works.thumbs up if you agree.

It apparently evolved into a praetorian right before killing everything on board. It has no cutscene, but can be noticed in the parts of its body that are shown. In the final cutscene (this video) it further evolves, and it becomes a new queen.

I don't think they'd need to "change sex" as Giger (designer of the aliens) has stated that all Xenomorphs are females, regardless of their species type.

Though the females who aren't queens are referred to as males by humans in the expanded Universe because their sex hormones aren't balanced properly to reproduce. When the queen dies and there's no queen to replace them, the hormone-carriers go into a frenzy as their hormones shift and they become new queens. Only one survives, who inherits the hive and its neuters. This was happening to Chet (The predalien.) in AvP: Requiem.

@ChupiTheTerrible Also, people give Giger way too much credit. He designed the first drone and the runner in Alien3, but that's the only relevance he has to the series. And he didn't come up with anything about what they were biologically or with their capabilities, he designed them based on what the writers decided they could/would do. He deserves a lot of credit, yes. But he's certainly not the species' creator, doesn't own them, and doesn't have the final say in their biology.
