I remember first seeing this in the theater when it came out, I was pretty young... This damn theme had me SO pumped for what was to come. The barrage of brass at 0:53 had a particularly strong impact on me for some reason. I remember when the movie was over, I wanted the soundtrack just for that one part. LOL
Without this movie, there'd be no Dark Knight. Or there might, only it wouldn't have the influence enough that this movie provides. Especially with today's hero movies. I honestly think that types of movies like Batman (1989) can't be made today. I watched Thor recently, and I just don't get it. Explain it to me. Why is it good?
Could use a little more Two-Face? Yea me as well. Check out this interesting Two-Face fan film on my page. Do you believe in Harvey Dent?! You will after you see this.
when people saw this at the local cinema, did it start out low and get VERY LOUD? my vhs tapes and early dvd has it. also this movie was in 70mm dolby.
@batwars159 Who doesn't? :D I mean, how can this be so EFFIN' EPIC?!!!!! I still get chills, from every little violin or segment in this score. Starts out sounding tragic and sad (Batman loses his parents), then gradually grows more powerful as Bruce Wayne is slowly growing from a sad cynical young man to Batman ("The Dark Night is rising" :), then BAM! - It's kick ass time!!
This is in my opinion the best batman movie... don't really care about the critisim either cause i find it funny they spent millions doing the new one and it still doesn't measure up to this one!
when joker enters the art gallery (party man) and at the festival at the end (trust)...and i beleive theres one during the credits after the batman theme
Batman is an American Legend Larger in Life than Superman.
When he is spoken of , He should be Referred to as " The Bat Man " and Spoken of in Fear. He is Wilder than the Shadow, he is a Modern Day Version of Zorro.
He is to be Feared and Looked up to at the Same Time. He is the Batman.
His Car is the Mysterious Fearsome Chariot that takes him into and out of Battle with the Powerful Forces of Greed , Corruption and Evil.
I have just finished to see it now, and I can say that I liked it but burton fucked up too much batman's original character! In that movie he kills dozens of people!!!
One fellow movie goer said it best in 2005 after I came out of the movie theatre from watching Batman Begins (2005), I couldn't help over hear him tell his friend in friendly, but real conversation; something to the effect of: " I liked it (Batman Begins (2005) movie), but I think Batman (1989) was better."
Okay, this is going to make me sound both old and obsessive, but does anyone remember the Coke commercial that used to play before this movie on the original VHS copy? It had Michael Gough in it, I remember. And there was a Looney Toons sketch before it too, as I recall.
@samsullithegenius YES! I remember both of tose. Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck were offering the Warner Brother catalogue of merch to buy! And the Alfred Coke commercial was Alfred on the phone calling the store telling them he'd sent somebody to pick up more Diet Coke....guess who he sent?
that being said, it really makes me sad when i think about how many people (pretty much any generations after mine, i was born when this movie came out so i was watching it at elementary school age) are never gonna see this bit of retro glory.
so i was looking throught my parents VHS' i wasnt born till 7 years later and i found this movie and i was so happy because i still havent watched it D: because i havent had time (i blame homework) and i was like ok since im kind of strugling with this song in band i was 'im gonna search it up on youtube' and when i found this was the original i was amazingly happy :D and 50 thought that dislike meant dis i like!

There are actually five Prince songs:
"The Future" (plays during the opening street scene, which is right after the credits)
"Electric Chair" (plays while the guests at Bruce Wayne's party are gambling)
"Partyman" (the museum scene)
"Trust" (the parade scene)
"Scandalous" (three times in the movie, the first two during love scenes between Bruce and Vicki and the third over the final credits)
