  • if adolph hitler flew in today stummer/jones relevent no matter what age were in

  • what film is this?

  • man i close my eyes and im 16 and i can smell my leather jacket and everythings so perfect,,except instead of singing they aint got no roots rock never id sing *THEY AINT GOT BO BOOTS BLACK LEATHER ,,,,

  • Ta que cagaron la cancion con la escena del tio persiguiendo al niño... d todas formas esta cancion es excelente... A

  • Why does the kid always look pissed off in the movie? I've never seen it, so I don't know.

  • I agree... and whatever Joe Strummer's life was, He and The Clash are the messengers of a generation abused by Sex Pistols' and Mc Laren's punk business..... they teached the reality of the 80's to all of us .....

  • Everyone remembers them for Should i stay or should i go, rock the casbah, and i fought the law but there are so many hidden gems like this song!

  • one of The Clash's songs that i like most

  • I love and miss you Joe!

  • This song is the first rap song. Seriously. Joe does not sing the lyrics at all, He just tells a story with the lyrics. The early rap did the same, before descending into an endless rant of profanity and misogyny.

  • @21Bucfan Rap and the whole hip hop culture originated in the early 70's, so given that, and that there IS a true sing meldoy in his vocals, I mean I'm sure you could sit down at the piano and play Joes vocals on this song, If you did that with most rap songs, the keys would hardly change, (Maybe with Del or Slick Rick or somebody)

But I highly agree that Commercial rap nowa days is abunch of complete BULLSHIT, still a LOT of good hip hop out there, it's just not found on the radio.

  • @21Bucfan "White Man in Hammersmith Palais" is not a rap song... I think you're thinking of "Magnificent Seven"...

  • how does joe's voice sound this good?

  • @ohfoolishworkerbee

Reading Johnny Green's biography "a riot of our own" He says the clash re-recorded all the live sound footage to Rude Boy.. They supposedly watched the footage and played back along with it and re-recorded it.

Maybe thats why Joes voice sounds better/less raspy and not over stressed from having had to sing a full show?

  • one of the greatest songs in rock

  • i have a large punk rock erection

  • I don't think they were ever the same again without Topper Headon. Amazing what can happen when you mess with chemistry.

  • Who would dislike this? I'm flabbergasted.

  • Issn't Joe's bum biteable?

  • I have no idea what Mick is wearing.

  • Fantastic live performance. Topper was such a gifted, tight drummer. Too bad the "horse" destroyed his talent.

  • soddin rude boys...fkin classic..loved the clash..R.I,P.joe

  • alot of the clash's live performances dont sound great due to the age and sound quality but THIS IS AMAZING

  • The only band that matters

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICK!!!

  • joe strummer one of my heroes no doubt about it

  • @andy191266 He is a pretty amazing person. Its now musical cliche to say “The Clash changed my life” because every musician since the 80’s has said it.

  • In response to the drugs question:

All of them smoked ALOT of weed. They all did a little blow in the 80's. Simonon and Jones reportedly did try heroin for a little bit, but stopped after a few tries. Topper Headon, however, was addicted to it for a long time, and was one of the reasons he was booted out. This is all according to the book "The Return Of The Last Gang In Town."

  • @weczq4 Mick was addicted to cocaine through out the filming of “Rude Boy” but ive never heard of either of them getting into heroin.

  • @PBANDSNOW Yeah, Very briefly. Probably not long enough to consider it a habit, even. Like I said, I read all of this in "The Return Of The Last Gang In Town." The author could be wrong, though.

Smack or not, though, damn good music, eh?

  • @weczq4 Amazing music. Do you know who the books by? It sounds like a very detailed book.

  • @PBANDSNOW Yeah, Marcus Gray.

  • @weczq4 Thanks a lot!

  • come on lets have the evidence not here say we are not all that wet

  • Who cares what drugs they did... Music and drugs go hand in hand since ever. Back in the twenties all them cats had reefer madness. The blues guys went straight to ANYTHING they could get their hands on... It's about the music, about the social message. Not about tabloid bullshit on who's bad and who's not!

  • ROCK REBEL!!!!!!

  • Why not phone up Robin Hood and ask him for some wealth distribution?

What does Joe Strummer say instead of "ask him for some wealth distribution?"

  • @stewajf Either “Blue-velution” (like revolution) or “Blue Pollution”.

Joe used to say some pretty weird stuff on stage, at the end of this show, he says “Dont drinking beer, drink honey"

  • o no! creo que Jos Strummer disfrutara que la bailemos en Colombia!!! #leylleras

  • La pongo antes de que sea "prohibido " .....

  • Im pretty sure theres a video of him doing LSD also

  • "the only band that matters"

  • I'm an atheist, so the closest thing I have to a God is Joe Strummer...

  • @EdNortonisMineLol

the three kings strummer townsend and weller!

  • i never liked that bit of rude boy where the lad gets battered

  • wish we would have had mick's harmonies on this one.

  • Seen them live in '77 at Glasgow Apollo on the white riot tour. Brilliant!

  • The Magnificent Four

  • Yo Rude boy.. am loving the sub-titles.. tres chic je crois! Xj

  • @bazarboy Les sous titres n'ont rien a voir !

  • He got hepatitis when they were being gobbed at onstage and one went straight in his mouth!! Eewwww!!!

  • @Namhammer thats not true it was from a dirty needle where he shot up heroine with keith levine as a night where they decided to try everything once... he learnt his lesson =P

  • What a great song!!

  • joe strummer forgot the lyrics at 1.50 XD

  • BEST SONG EVER

  • Grooving all the room with a Phaser!

  • I want to touch Joe's ass

  • LSD and heroin are too totally different things from an addiction standpoint. I'm not saying that LSD is better to take, as it can have detrimental effects on the body's neurotransmitters over time. But heroin is utterly devastating from an addiction standpoint from the very get-go. Strummer was never a heroin addict. Just saying, mate. Cheers.

  • Where the hell are you getting your information? The only band member that is publicly known to do heroin was Topper. The rest may have smoked weed and drank some, but don't even suggest that Joe Strummer was doing heroin because you bloody don't know what you're talking about, mate.

  • @LisaNojaim I saw a clip somewhere that Joe said "you wanna do some LSD with us?" I forget where the clip was from but it was from a DVD documentary. Whatever, Topper did do way more crap than any of the other four did.

  • @JESSESEIBEL I saw that in Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten

  • @Ziggypuss That's the one. Good documentary too.

  • @LisaNojaim

he is talking bullshit, i will take heroin too if i have to trash drums 17 nights without a good sleep like they have done at bonds casino..

  • @LisaNojaim in his biography apparently he tried it once, which lead to him getting hepatitis

  • @LisaNojaim And that was the reason why they kicked him out of the band!

  • Comment removed

  • @LisaNojaim He did heroin once with Keith Levene :P

  • @LisaNojaim Mick was addicted to cocaine during the shooting of this video, but was clean by London Calling

  • @LisaNojaim the only thing Joe did was beer and quite a bit of it :)

  • @LisaNojaim strummer did coke

  • @LisaNojaim i don't think they were doing heroin, but in the 'future is unwritten' documentary there are scenes where they exchange pills...probably LCD

  • @kk789789789 What deadly LCD? Would that be watches or James Murphy CD's. Probably Sound of Silver, that's his best. Lol!!

  • @tomdan15 ...l S d...sorry...

  • @LisaNojaim Here, here, total tosser. Not worthy of a reply RIP Joe Stummer..legend

  • @LisaNojaim actually Joe openly took part of herion and many other drugs during the late nineties, and even though Joe said that he would never do it while he was in the clash, Topper said there were numerous times where he would see Joe take a line before a show. - from the book Redemption Song by Chris Salewicz

  • @El21P no one gives a fuck just listen to the music you poo head.

  • @LisaNojaim It has been suggested in some quarters, however, that when Joe got hepatitis after a fan's saliva supposedly went in his mouth due to 'gobbing' (ah, those were the days), it was actually due to an infected needle (I'm not libelling the great man, it's just that that claim has been made in more than one biography that I've read).

  • @LisaNojaim From an old Joe Strummer interview: "I never liked heroin. I never even took it. I might have smoked it once in Holland. I remember the bloke said, 'Zis next joint has the heroin in it.' ... I took like a show puff, the one where you keep it in your mouth ... And that was the only time I ever got really near heroin." Well, I hope that settles it for everyone. lol

  • heroin is the #1 irony in punk, rock and (not reggae lol). "world piece" get the minority kids to work in dem' fields to field your habbit. french and brits were buying it.

  • is there no one in the audiance?

  • Toppers yellow bruce lee costume :-)

  • heroin fuckd them up just like pistols..... the clash were much better and they played with more energy

  • @VilchaDeadfish topper was the only one who abused heroin, even though after he left they did start to go under

  • Who's singing backing vocals here? I'd said it was Jonesy, but he's not singing into his mic until later on (doing the high parts)...

  • @12toedfeet that's been a mystery to me too, for years!!

  • @12toedfeet isnt it paul?

  • @PBANDSNOW I suppose it could be Paul, but if you notice he is standing about a foot and a half from the microphone...so either the mics were very sensitive mics, he and/or Mick had some sort of portable mics on them (which seems unlikely), Topper is singing backing vocals (which also seems unlikely)...or they did some OVERDUBBING!!!

  • @12toedfeet They did do overdubbing for the movie. Much of the live footage had to be overdubbed for vocals or even guitar. Mick and Joe had to snychronize their playing for the overdubbing with their actions on screen. They sound great!

  • @maggiemullins1 Ahhhh...I see! They do sound great! I wouldn't have even known they had done some overdubbing if I hadn't noticed the whole backing vocals thing!

  • @12toedfeet All of the live songs were re-recorded in the studio after the inept film-crew found that the audio they recorded wasn't film quality.

  • white raggie,so said bob marley,,mister rag man himself...

  • Best Clash Tune!! No Doubt

  • It is the Capitol theatre in New Jersey

  • @jamesupjimmy no its not.this was filmed during the making of rude boy

  • where is the recorded? My money is on the Glasgow apollo ?
