These competitions fashion the winners that the judges and producers want. Melanie has a voice like Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey and the people that vote are mostly teenage girls. Chris Rene will NOT win the popular vote despite being very talented.

He ALREADY HAS A CD! This is a competition for amateurs and if he has been paid, he may be considered a pro and therefore he might get disqualified... I asked if anyone knows. Thanks for sharing your ignorance.

@WalkinLA , many of the competitors have had success professionally in the past (e.g., Stacy Francis). There is no rule in the competition that says you can not have had a CD. Besides, he was never "signed" by a label. His CD was an independent production. Melanie is great, but she doesn't have a big personality. I have a feeling she's going to be "Tamyra'd." If Chris doesn't win (girls vote for guys, btw), I think it will be Drew. JMO.

@swede1one Chris is not coming across strong at this point especially singing 1970's Carpenters songs. He's not a singer, he's a lyricist and you'd think Maesto Cowell would realize that. I think, Josh, Melanie and Astro and maybe Canty have pulled ahead despite the props they gave that lame band Stereo Hoggs. LeRoy is really growin' on me too. I hope they give him something Motown / upbeat next week if he makes it through. The church lady is awesome but that can't win a pop contest.

I say this because they compliment ASTRO on his writing skills though Chris's song writing is off the charts. Let Chris sing his own songs and he's got a chance... The competition is very tough. I think they ought to have three winners. The 'losers' are gonna get recording contracts anyway....

@BEVERLYJOYCE1 I have noticed this as well. The show is set up for the judges to be biased. They want to win and therefore are choosing their favorites just as fans do. Nicole blatantly stated she is into empowering women and that was the basis for her vote for the girl group so at least they are being consistently biased. The competitors are gonna have to realize this. Astro is very confident and courageous. Chris gotta find his mojo and sing his own songs. No more Carpenters! LOL
