He's the G.O.A.T. But reading these comments man, c'mon now, we all know nastradamus was terrible. I don't know if any of ya'll ever seen the movie, "Get him to the Greek," but that album was the equivilant to Aldous Snow's, "African Child."
@jjdraven ??? You're saying after Illmatic and It Was Written, Nas didn't make any more good albums? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, That's a incredibly ignorant statement.
I Am... - Underrated Classic
Nastradamus - Alright... Definitely not Nas' best work
Stillmatic - Amazing an Instant classic
The Lost Tapes - Absolutely perfect
God's Son - Great production and great songs
Street's Disciple - one of the best double disk LP's ever
@The12Jacob you're completely over stating nas' ability, they are all excellent albums in your opinion, they were criticised fairly badly when they came out man, after stillmatic his work gradually got worse and worse, hip hop is dead is not an impeccable album in the slightest, it's fairly bad by nas' standards, but Nas is still no doubt one of the greatest MCs to ever touch the mic.
After listening to this, it really starts to hit you that hip hop is not only dead... but it's been dead for a while. Sure they still call it hip-hop, but what it really is nowadays is whiny-autotune-dubstep.
I wish I was born in early 80s. The oldies music was poppin! I WANT to listen to todays music just cuz everybodys familiar with it but i cant stand bumpin those over edited beats or wack ass rhymes :\

@KryptonDaVillain i wasnt aimin for your direction nigga youre the one who gave me the idea of the comment but i didnt want your ass talkin to me, i aint your friend. im just speaking about any shit talkers in general, not just you so PEACE
@KryptonDaVillain idk how he is overrated?there are many that should be mentioned instead of him 'cause he is carrying on the legacy of the best so idk how a Hip-hop fan can be a fan by saying Nas is overrated
@YungMalThaKid By assessing the artist as a whole. His Stillmatic release would've been considered merely average had it been released by another artist, but because it was Nas, his fans hail it to be a classic and ''one of the great hip hop albums of all time''. His rapping skills have diminished tremendously over the years and people still rank him in the top five rappers as of today. Don't get me wrong though, Illmatic is ARGUABLY the greatest hip hop album of all time.
@KryptonDaVillain What's so bad about Stillmatic and he still has songs that really go thru the brain. He is considered 1 of the best MCs cuz of how many gr8 trax he has.I dont care about an artist's "career" cuz what they said is more important regardless of what they make off of it.His style of rhyming came directly from the OG MCs so there is a reason y he is considered 1 of the top...idk what else 2 say but give me a list of hurting Nas trax.
@YungMalThaKid I know Nas is one of the best emcees of all time, but what explains for people placing in the top five current emcees around when he's done nothing? (apart from 'Nasty' which was straight raw, but that's only one song). The first half of Stillmatic rivals the second half of Enter the Wu Tang (don't listen to me, huge exaggeration) and the first half of Illmatic, but the second half, is just trash. I don't see how you can call an album a classic when it's not even complete.
@KryptonDaVillain well ok then lets go back 2 where this started, how is he overrated when we both agree he is 1 of the gr8est.As i said idc bout "career",so what when he drops a song...Rakim is considered the God MC under any circumstance so as a lyricist Nas is 1 of the most consistant and thats what matters 2 ppl the quality and quantity-Peace
@YungMalThaKid He doesn't have the ''quality'' and that's why I'm saying he's overrated. Let me rephrase what I said - Nas is one of the most SKILLED rappers of all time. He lacks in consistency however. The last five years have been drought years for Nas and he's only just comeback now with his best material with ''Nasty''. He didn't even try on that song and it was one of the best new singles I've heard in the last couple years. Career is influential when deciding who the G.O.A.T is.
@KryptonDaVillain Do u realize u r bouncing back and forth on urself.U say he is in 1 of the top but overrated...those 2 dont go 2getha period. He is not overrated and never will b,plus career only mattered in $ and $ duznt = skill as much as it used 2.Idc if he never dropped nasty and stopped at Nigger,he still wooda bin 1 of the most lyrically consistant 2 b well known.Figure out who really is "over"rated cuz u got that mixed w/ "over"ALL
@YungMalThaKid Clear evidence of Nas being overrated is just in your responses. You've neither showed two sides to the argument nor directly responded to what I've said. I know he's great lyrically, I've been trying to get that across, but that doesn't mean he's not overrated. Career doesn't mean ''$'' solely. Kool G Rap is said to have had one of the greatest hip hop careers, yet he hasn't made as much ''$'' as Soulja Boy, who I think everyone can agree hasn't had a greater career than G Rap.
@YungMalThaKid I rephrased it. He's one of the most SKILLED rappers, but with all the hate I've spewed against him it'll be hard for me to call him one of the greats. He was one of the most promising. He's overrated because people criticize Jay Z's bad albums whenever someone puts forth that he's ''one of the greatest rappers of all time''. There's a polar effect in Nas' case however, because when you happen to bring up his consistency and lack of ''classic'' albums, people bring up skills.
@KryptonDaVillain Just ran thru Hip-Hop is Dead and its not bad as i thot and its not bad at all but I like Stillmatic better...I go off what I hear and that is it_L.Y.R.I.C.S!
@YungMalThaKid Lyrics alone don't make an album classic. Evidence for that is Canibus' debut. I'm done with this because you're just contradicting yourself.
@KryptonDaVillain IM CONTRADICTING,shakenbacon is rite u trolling cuz i bin dun w/ this and u were the 1 who says he is overrated&has 1 of the gr8est albums so u got all the info and its up 2 u 2 accept that u were wrong as soon as u replied 2 my comment which is fact face it
@YungMalThaKid Man shut-up. You've just discovered nineties hip hop and think you're a genius. Yes, Nas is good - but IN MY OPINION (and many others) he is overrated. Go find out what overrated mean, then shut up. Many others KNOW he has one good album, stop being subjective and biased and look at as a whole. Sheesh.
@KryptonDaVillain whats wrong the troll getten backfired.all u had 2 do was never reply but here u go again and how do u no wat i discovered?i no wat overrated means,do u no?once again u say he is good but overrated...contradictn much;subjective and biased huh well we r talkin bout Nas so im stayin on subject and u emphasize opinion so it duznt get mo bias than that!as i repeat nothin else needs 2 b said cuz i put it all out there
@YungMalThaKid Just because something is overrated doesn't mean it's not good! That's why I said go research the definition of overrated, if you don't know what it means don't assume it means something. Ignorance is bliss, honestly you don't even know what you're arguing about. I replied to your comment about ''talk bad about nas give up being a hip-hop fan''. That's what you call overrating somebody. Do you need me to use an analogy to break down what ''overrated'' mean or are you fine?
@KryptonDaVillain I do know...if Nas out of all that he has put out and illmatic is the only GOOD album he has then he aint good.u got my og comment twisted;thats not putting Nas above Hip-hop.i dint say if u speak wrong about hip-hop give up bein a Nas fan.idk wats so hard 2 get;very easy
Dude if you think illmatic is the only good album you aint heard it was written , i am , gods son , stillmatic , lost tapes ,hip hop is dead , distant relatives , streets disciple. sorry your fucking awful mate
@YungMalThaKid If skills alone make a rapper great, then why isn't Canibus on everybody's 'best rapper list' - and why are other SKILLFUL rappers like Gift of Gab, Papoose, Aceyalone, Pharoahe Monch and Tonedeff scarcely ever mentioned in such lists as well? Aceyalone, Pharoahe Monch and Gift of Gab have albums which have been met with critical acclaim and been called classic, yet, unlike Nas, they're never mentioned. To be honest, the three mentioned are probably better lyricists than Nas.
@KryptonDaVillain Now we r getten 2 tha bigger picture...yes unlike most i believe there are better than 2pac&Nas.I dont care what others say, they take how much money they make into consideration and that doesnt matter 2 me(how many times do i have 2 repeat). As I said overall-mainstream+underground=how good u r and how many hear u
It's Like A Whole New Beginning... Too much thugs and alcohol, what a mixture Just picture... ya life as a whole judged in court with convictions They telling u your state of mind, like you worthless So he curses, his moms saying Bible Verses That's all she works with But miracles, neva leave the churches Instead, it hits the pockets of the Preacher just to purchase... A house, with a swimming pool Labels me a sinning fool
That kind of rap rescued my soul and saved my life as a teenager, without it i´d probabably spend my time in a cell, nowadays. Thanks to all concious MC`s!
I dont know what came first, this or verbal intercourse but I know one thing. The first verse is not the acapella from verbal intercourse, you can tell its a different recording. Which makes me think this never came out and Nas re-recorded the verse for Cuban Linx
ahhh sometimes I talk about old school rap and my boys say yeh yeh shit from year 2000... fuckin whack...only a few still remember the early 90s to mid 90s and how you have memories attached to every song. 1993 in particular, probably the best year hiphop ever witnessed. From the heart/soul....timeless sound.. Thank god I grew up in that era... bless.
Seriously? Step back and listen to this man's lyrics..
"unfold the scroll plant seeds that stampede the globe when im deceased/ by then the beast arise like yeast/the conquer peace/ leaving savages to roam in the streets/ live on the run/ Police paying me to give them my gun/ trick my wisdom with the system that imprisons my son...."
Only a fucking poetic genius can come up with something like this, lets support this truly special individual when his new album comes out.
@PhantomThaSkywalker Yes you right...but this was way b4 that song came out ...this was an unleased track that was never any his albums...should've tho...lol...
@MrMerk31 Not true, this song is a bootleg that was simply made with Nas's verbal intercourse acappela. Nas laid down this here verse right around the time that Rae released his Only Built 4 Cuban Linx album. (Around the time Illmatic was released, between '94 and '95)
@cKunke2 No its not Nas made this and it was going to be on it was written but he put it on verbal intercouse instead. The 3rd verse is featured on another song im not sure what it is tho

KryptonDaVillain 2 months ago
@KryptonDaVillain Do u realize u r bouncing back and forth on urself.U say he is in 1 of the top but overrated...those 2 dont go 2getha period. He is not overrated and never will b,plus career only mattered in $ and $ duznt = skill as much as it used 2.Idc if he never dropped nasty and stopped at Nigger,he still wooda bin 1 of the most lyrically consistant 2 b well known.Figure out who really is "over"rated cuz u got that mixed w/ "over"ALL
YungMalThaKid 2 months ago
@YungMalThaKid Clear evidence of Nas being overrated is just in your responses. You've neither showed two sides to the argument nor directly responded to what I've said. I know he's great lyrically, I've been trying to get that across, but that doesn't mean he's not overrated. Career doesn't mean ''$'' solely. Kool G Rap is said to have had one of the greatest hip hop careers, yet he hasn't made as much ''$'' as Soulja Boy, who I think everyone can agree hasn't had a greater career than G Rap.
KryptonDaVillain 2 months ago

YungMalThaKid 2 months ago
@YungMalThaKid Lyrics alone don't make an album classic. Evidence for that is Canibus' debut. I'm done with this because you're just contradicting yourself.
KryptonDaVillain 2 months ago
@KryptonDaVillain IM CONTRADICTING,shakenbacon is rite u trolling cuz i bin dun w/ this and u were the 1 who says he is overrated&has 1 of the gr8est albums so u got all the info and its up 2 u 2 accept that u were wrong as soon as u replied 2 my comment which is fact face it
YungMalThaKid 2 months ago
@YungMalThaKid Man shut-up. You've just discovered nineties hip hop and think you're a genius. Yes, Nas is good - but IN MY OPINION (and many others) he is overrated. Go find out what overrated mean, then shut up. Many others KNOW he has one good album, stop being subjective and biased and look at as a whole. Sheesh.
KryptonDaVillain 2 months ago
@KryptonDaVillain whats wrong the troll getten backfired.all u had 2 do was never reply but here u go again and how do u no wat i discovered?i no wat overrated means,do u no?once again u say he is good but overrated...contradictn much;subjective and biased huh well we r talkin bout Nas so im stayin on subject and u emphasize opinion so it duznt get mo bias than that!as i repeat nothin else needs 2 b said cuz i put it all out there
YungMalThaKid 2 months ago
@YungMalThaKid Just because something is overrated doesn't mean it's not good! That's why I said go research the definition of overrated, if you don't know what it means don't assume it means something. Ignorance is bliss, honestly you don't even know what you're arguing about. I replied to your comment about ''talk bad about nas give up being a hip-hop fan''. That's what you call overrating somebody. Do you need me to use an analogy to break down what ''overrated'' mean or are you fine?
KryptonDaVillain 2 months ago
@KryptonDaVillain I do know...if Nas out of all that he has put out and illmatic is the only GOOD album he has then he aint good.u got my og comment twisted;thats not putting Nas above Hip-hop.i dint say if u speak wrong about hip-hop give up bein a Nas fan.idk wats so hard 2 get;very easy

@YungMalThaKid

KryptonDaVillain 2 months ago
@KryptonDaVillain Now we r getten 2 tha bigger picture...yes unlike most i believe there are better than 2pac&Nas.I dont care what others say, they take how much money they make into consideration and that doesnt matter 2 me(how many times do i have 2 repeat). As I said overall-mainstream+underground=how good u r and how many hear u

I dont know what came first, this or verbal intercourse but I know one thing. The first verse is not the acapella from verbal intercourse, you can tell its a different recording. Which makes me think this never came out and Nas re-recorded the verse for Cuban Linx
thelaw1984 3 months ago
ahhh sometimes I talk about old school rap and my boys say yeh yeh shit from year 2000... fuckin whack...only a few still remember the early 90s to mid 90s and how you have memories attached to every song. 1993 in particular, probably the best year hiphop ever witnessed. From the heart/soul....timeless sound.. Thank god I grew up in that era... bless.
indoguju 3 months ago
Word is bond!

@PhantomThaSkywalker Yes you right...but this was way b4 that song came out ...this was an unleased track that was never any his albums...should've tho...lol...
MrMerk31 3 months ago
@MrMerk31 Not true, this song is a bootleg that was simply made with Nas's verbal intercourse acappela. Nas laid down this here verse right around the time that Rae released his Only Built 4 Cuban Linx album. (Around the time Illmatic was released, between '94 and '95)
cKunke2 3 months ago
@cKunke2 No its not Nas made this and it was going to be on it was written but he put it on verbal intercouse instead. The 3rd verse is featured on another song im not sure what it is tho
