I used a few different mattes in Final Cut Pro, so that different parts of the screen would be different colors. I colorized a large image of Troughton's head in Photoshop and put it over the original footage - then I used the video file I created as just a color layer, in After Effects, restoring the original video.
the colourization is not perfect until you mix it with the black and white version
