. Now I think only Patti Smith has bettered this on the covers album.
why do people have to say 'this is better' or 'that is better' like music is some kind of sporting competition. This is class, not better or worse, just class in its own right.
Miss an old mode... Sound gets more and more minimalistic, like a demo style, dont have anything to previous years with Alan Wilder, when there was a rich atmospheric sound. They should change a producer. I'm a fan since 1989, and the last 3 albums are separeted to a real DM, unfortunatly. What is good, a Dave's voice)
It is obio for that tenian that to extract the freightage and the originality obscurely of depeche mode in this cover and I believe that it is very good now that u2 makes a cover of depeche pra see that such they do it we will have to wait a lot of time in order that this happens I believe
Sorry guys, the original is far better.... Love both U2 and DM and I like the idea of this song being covered, but I really think that covering any song from "achtung" is dangerous for not being successful.
Failed attempt to cover with the current sound. something is wrong maybe this "new empty modern sound" of the band.Martin is a intelligent person and knows what is missing: the art of Wilder.
as a devoted fan of both U2 and DM I must confess that version 2011 fulfills the scale of meanings (use of instruments,voice,feeling...etc) and it`s better than the original. Hail DM, Hail to U2.Respect!
I loved this cover! DM did a good job. Listen to it with headphones on people. Damn I remember when Achtung Baby came out and I listened and listened to it. And guess what I still listen to it and I'm a still a U2 fan.
Exactly my first thought too. But give it a few more listens, with head-phones if you can. It has layers, harmonies, and drop-offs you don't notice on the first play.
