  • same like avatar geh /.\

  • When i first saw the this on tv i can't help but compare the lead character to "The Prince of Persia" especially that the setting is a desert...so that is suppose to be mars? what happened to the red color?

  • Amazing how ignorant some people are. This is based on a Princess of Mars. Official publication in 1917.

  • Kashmir <3

  • How can he jump so high? I don't get it.

  • @shantisatellite Its on mars..? = Lower gravity

  • this movie looks sweet......fuck off haters

  • Starwars episode 2 meets final fantasy meets avatar?

  • @Vinvolve This is from a book series from 1910, George Lucas took ideas from these books when he made Star Wars. And dont talk about Avatar.. This is the original.

  • He should also be using his cards. I mean, that's Gambit, right?

  • Conan the Martian?

  • Thanks for the ad to see an ad, asshats

  • Why no Dejah Thoris nude?

  • Wow, I thought Avengers was the only worthy popcorn movie of 2012...until now.

  • Wow, I never thought someone would ever rip something from that piece of crap called Episode 2: Attack of The Clones...

  • @Fapsamup THis movie was based on a book... written in the 1910s. LONG before Lucas thought of Star Wars.

  • @FlyingFocs I was not talking about the story, I was talking about the visuals...

  • @Fapsamup Oh. I see. Well, I would say that one might have influenced the other either way, but even if it didn't, nothing's original anymore.

  • For those of you who don't know, this was based off a series of book written before Avatar was even thought of.

  • @zPersianz The Barsoom Chronicles or some title like that. I remember Carl Sagan speaking of John Carter and Barsoom in the episode of his series COSMOS that was about Mars.

  • LOL is that Led Zeppelin's Kashmir

  • I like the Si-Fi content but I am disappointed that the movie John Carter did not capture the first book by Edgar Rice Burroughs THE PRINCESS OF MARS. I believe a lot of the purists and followers of the John Carter Series by Burroughs will be disappointed also. I would like to see someone like Spielberg take it on and make the entire series of John Carter of Mars by Burroughs into a Movie Classic Series that equals the Classic Content of Burroughs.

Why did this producer choose otherwise?

  • "You are John Carter from Earth"

    lol

  • He's on Mars. Read "A Princess of Mars" by Edgar Rice Burrows...published in 1912.

About time Hollywood did something right

  • avatar

  • Hey! I have that armour in Skyrim! It sucks...

  • HOLY BALLS!!!

  • You know, as overused as Kashmir is, in this case it makes sense that they used it. Because Carter is a traveler of time and space. And he is with elder of a, well, perhaps not a gentle race. So it kind of fits, so there sin't no denying.

Well, I gave that a try.

  • Would it help to say "From the visionary director of WALL*E"?

  • @KnightofDuroch GIven the different tone, probably not. BUt it would at least show that it could be better than what it seems.

  • He is on an alien planet. The force of gravity is likely much lower than our own. There, I have explained why he can jump like that. Please stop asking, it's getting annoying.

  • Heey!! what is the name of the song??? Not the original from Led Zeppelin, this cover!!

And... this story is taked from the sci-fi books of Edgar Rice Burroughs... The other movies (Star Wars, Avatar, etc.) are based on this stories

  • @ugn201087 Forget it, I found that. Is a cover of Corner Stone Cues called Ten Years Kashmir II (Orchestra - Choir - Film Perc Mix) ... I found the chorus which is coming out in the trailer .. is epic ..

  • What the hell? Is he a Michael Jordan in the age of aliens or something? LOL

  • This is from books written back around 1912... Looks cool.

  • Is anyone else thinking of Kashmir or is that just me?

  • i think we have a new contender to dethrone battlefeild earth as the most god awful over the top movie of all time.

  • @hoodfigga33 Hey, at least there's no Travolta. And at least this has a good director behind it.

Not saying it will be good, but I do think it at least has a chance. Or at least I want it too. I'm starving for a good sci-fi.

  • Woah, Disney releasing a Sci-fi. Disney releasing a bloody movie. That's unexpected.

  • Attack of the Clones and Avatar

  • LOOKS LAME BECAUSE JOHN CARTER ISNT BLACK

  • Looks like a mix between Braveheart and Avatar to me.

  • @danyizzle91 Avatar ripped off the stories. Wikipedia Cameron he's notorious for that shit.

  • another CGI blowout? can't we just move on from this stuff...

  • @HappyFamilyPlan As soon as they stop making money, maybe we will.

Any who, this movie is directed by the guy who made Finding Nemo and WALL-E (weird choice, but okay), so it makes a bit of sense. Stay with what you know, right?

  • Blue blood in a disney movie

  • I dont get it

  • I hope you guy's realize this film is based on a 94 year old book

  • Star Wars + Avatar + Conan the Barbarian = John Carter

  • Do they just re-use Godzilla soundtrack?

  • @matwenwen No, it uses Led Zeppelin's Kashmir. Puff Daddy used the main riff from that song in his song "Come With Me".

    Rappers apparently did that alot.

  • Am I the only one it reminds of Thor?

  • @Dolindox yes.

  • hmmmm star wars meets prince of persia meets avitar meets 300? wtf man wtf

  • Y does dis seem so much like avatar????

  • Star Wars + Avatar + Conan = John Carter

  • meets prince of persia

  • @Arquiteturafacisa ok, i dont know if you noticed, everyone else keeps saying the same thing, maybe read before you post, and i hate the fact that if it's the same genre, automatically its a certain movie.

  • Nooo disney

  • that fucking retarded rayman commercial hope it burns in holy flame

  • I thought John Carter was the 52nd president of the United States or something

  • @wertyq32 That was Jimmy Carter I think

  • Fucking Avatar sucesor !!!!!!

  • I just started reading the first book in this series (a princess of mars) and the forward alone got me hooked!!

  • Strong men can jump.....high.

  • @watcherlance Especially when they're on a planet with lower gravity. Mars' gravity is only about 38% of Earth's.

  • @watcherlance different planet, different gravity

  • Rigginzzzzzz fuck yeah bro. Texas forever

  • @PhillyRE That movie looked bad and nothing like DBZ from the get go. Plus it didn't have great people working on it. This movie seems to be accurate to the source material and is being directed and written by a guy who wrote and directed several pixar movies.

  • This and Hunger Games in the same month?! I hope my brain doesn't explode from too much epic

  • Looks decent. Might have to look into that book if the storyline is good.

  • new youtube needs work cant find my old comments. this movie had potential but they blew it when disney took the wheel. this type done right is AVATAR disney does it you get pocahontas nuff said?

  • Didnt know that there was a Chuck norris biography film when he was 13...

  • @TheAxtrex What the heck does Chuck Norris have to do with MARS?

  • Another movie where a chosen White guy saves the 'oppressed' race of non whites...how original.

    Still might be interesting..Avatar 2.

  • loving the reworking of Led Zepps "Kashmir" didnt expect that!

  • Comment removed

  • Quite funny to see all the comments about this movie "ripping off" other movies like Avatar and Star Wars. Funny because this is based on a book series from a hundred years ago. So, if you want to complain, then complain about Avatar and Star Wars ripping off John Carter.

  • alittle Star Wars if u ask me

  • @TheViciousAkira If John Carter was written in 1912 and Star Wars in 1976 or whatever how is John Carter Star Wars? Star Wars would be a little John Carter.

  • @hydrolito i say alittle not the it looks O.o

  • I know john carter was written decades ago, but you have to admit the pitch is way to much similar to avatar. Not hatin' on this movie because I'll probably go see it in theaters, but some might not be so open minded.

  • THIS SHOULD have been PLANET HULK

  • LED ZEPPELIN - KASHMIR \m/

  • The version of Kashmir you are hearing is from a group called Bond.

  • I have to know if there's some place I can get that cover of Kashmir playing.

  • @nomnomdeplume A similar version of Kashmir is on the London Philharmonic album Kashmir, along with other Led Zepplin songs. An mp3 is on amazon

  • @salcorn9 Thanks!

  • Star Wars' clone wars. The arena fight... Same scenes. Baaaaaddd

  • @qHERA nerd

  • Kashmir.......\m/

  • John Carter - the Phantom Avatar

  • avatar version in green thumbs up if you agree ^^

  • song led zeppelin kashmir

  • The best part is that I can quietly enjoy movie, even with the racist theme of "Great White Man save pathetic colored people from themselves and bang all your hot princesses", in a guilt-free way that I couldn't when watching Avatar or even the Star Wars prequels, since the material is based on a series where those kind of sentiments weren't that offensive.

I wonder if they'll keep John Carter's ex-Confederate soldier, slave-owning origins? Remember, he WAS a plantation owner, but, hey, he wa

  • @rorshach1117 Only a small percentage of Southerners owned plantations, and only a small percentage of those actually owned slaves, my friend.

Sadly, history is written by the victors. And in that, I wouldn't be suprised if they did change it. Confederate soldier, maybe, but I doubt they'd go with plantation owner.

  • @FlyingFocs Please, the United States, and especially the South was a slave society. States like South Carolina had slightly MORE slaves than "free" people according to their census and in their Declaration of Secession THE reasons are all about SLAVERY. Making the main character of a film that is not about the Civil War a Confederate is an invitation to failure. It would be like making an ex-NAZI a space hero. Who wants to see that?

  • @citronm1 An exact quote:

Most Americans, no doubt, imagine the prewar South as a region so thickly dotted with immense plantations on which most of the black and white populations worked and lived. But, on the contrary, while slaves made up 40% of the total population of the South, only 25 percent of free families, most of them white, owned any slaves at all, and fully one-half of this minority (12.5%) held fewer than five slaves.

Look into it, and find out more bfore judging.

  • prince of persia........from mars

  • any movie with Mark Strong, im there

  • way to spoil the giant fight.....

  • Ok. I hear a lot of Star Wars similarities spoken by several people. What, in your opinion, makes you feel this movie is like Star Wars? I'm just wondering because if boggling me.

  • Thank you Disney.

  • Avatar meets Star Wars?

  • This movie is full of cliche goodness! XD What a terrible trailer, and that song is so fucking overly used and old.

  • song?

  • song?

  • Star Wars, Friday Night Lights and Gladiator all in one cool

  • i am a traveler of both time and space

  • The martians look like trolls from WOW!!!

  • you know i thought it was a new terminator movie.. John Carter... :P

  • @1tsn0t0ver thats john connor not carter

  • relax educated people ... they are mindless children never taught to read a book that doesn't involve sparkling vampires or self involved high school drama queens ..... don't mind them

  • I can't believe how many dumb asses are on this board! Don't get me wrong, there are a few smart ones here too. For the confused ones, pick up "A Princess of Mars". It's at a thing called a "book store". Or Kindle if you don't know what books are. It's the first book of 11. It was originally written in 1911. Waaaaay before Superman, Darth Vader or the creation of Pandora. You will like it and understand more of the movies plot. It's only about 145 pages. Any questions about Barsoom? Feel free t

  • starting to look like a real movie

will the 'ancient astronauts' like it?

  • This is why Humans are much more awesome than anything else in the universe.

  • good to know that martians speek english! those english classes may some day pay off.

  • I kind of wish they'd went full CGI. It'll be 90% green screen anyway and the elements that are 3D are a bit too cartoony looking next to humans. Not saying that it'll be bad, just that I think a different approach might have looked nicer.

  • look pretty good ill give it a chance but i hope they dont try to sell it just for the really good cgi

  • FINALLY! A trailer that showcases the green martians.

  • @beveraii man... final fantasy is more old than jhon carter...

  • It's kind of like The Hulk when he was a gladiator.

  • kashmir yeaaaa!!!

  • It's like if Avatar, Conan The Barbarian and Lord of The Rings took place at Tatooine

  • looks cheesey

  • PLEEEASE DON'T SUCK.

  • From the director of Finding Nemo and WALL-E. Would not have called that.

Oh, and for those saying this is Avatar and Star Wars, guess what? The books this was based off of came out before those tow. Heck, James Cameron claims those books inspired the idea for Avatar. So, there you go, and now you know.

  • @FlyingFocs And knowing is half the battle.

  • @Ilikeporkpie G. I. JOOOOOOE!

    Couldn't resist.

  • @FlyingFocs I think the comparisons are made more to the visual aspects. In the trailer you see definite elements from both movies.

  • @27ph Yeah, I suppose so.

  • Comment removed

  • 1:07 Mark Strong! :D

  • Stop comparing this film to Star Wars!!!

  • Star Wars and Avatar = this movie

  • Raab in Gefahr :D Wers versteht, Daumen hoch!

  • Oh and for the clueless gum flappers spouting useless rants about the story copying this that and the other or being unoriginal...this story was written a CENTURY ago. This is one of the originals. This story predates Lord of the Rings and just about any other fantasy/sci-fi series you can come up with, so shut your pie holes...you have no idea what you're talking about.

  • slavic elves

  • @urborg74 The voice of reason speaks, and yet many shall not heed his/her words

  • @urborg74 Good thing you mentioned "series" or you would have been slapped with a Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" book. You should have stopped at "This is one of the originals."

Why ? Oh, wait, let's just forget L. Franck Baum and the Wizard of Oz, first book of 14.

Sure, definitely not Fantasy series : mythical creatures, magic, a quest... let's forget it.

Remember, I have no idea what I'm talking about.

    Have a nice day.

  • @Elchdraim Get over yourself man, and learn basic reading comprehension. I used terms like "just about" and "almost" acknowledging that there would be a few exceptions. The truth remains that the Mars books predate 99.9% of the genre. Seriously, reading comprehension...work on it. A lot.

  • @urborg74 Mmmmmm..... pie.......

  • I grew up reading this series, I'll be watching it for sure.

  • They have ... Led Zeppelin ... on Mars?

"Oh let the sun beat down upon my face Stars to fill my dreams I am a traveler of both time and space To be where I have been..." 0.55
