Hands down, between The Professional or Leone as it is known outside of the U.S. and Immortal Beloved, Gary Oldman's performances outshine anything I've ever seen. If a man can watch Immortal Beloved and shed not one tear, he's more of a man than I am.

@BarneyGoogle1950 Anthony Hopkins turned down the role because he didnt like the script. Obviously, he knew something, critics didnt like the movie because of inaccurate story and it got zero nominations.

Of course I'm happy Gary Oldman did it, because the world would be less without his wonderful Beethoven performance even if the movie has its flaws.

Anyway the same agent gets him roles like Unborn, Red Riding Hood, Tiptoes, Sin, Lost in Space...

For years I always admired Gary for his brilliant acting but never saw the charisma until toward the end of this movie where he played an old Beethoven on his deathbed. The acting was superb and I suddenly sat up and took notice. Then, I watched the interviews in the "features" (which is shown here) and I've never been the same since! Wow! Too cool for words!!!
