  • "Aaah-Aaah-Eeeh-Eeeh, Tooki-Tooki!"

  • Brings back a lot of memories for me.

  • The movie with Brendan Frazier WASN'T FUNNY! This was classic, ELVIS AS TARZAN!

  • This should be renamed -ORIGINAL

  • @AspectRatioPolice nej nej nej nej.. should be named TONY IN THE JUNGLE!

  • tää oli niin hyvä kakarana!

  • DAMN YOU DEBI!

  • Such fond memories of the original George of the Jungle! I remember watching the show as a little boy back in the early 70's along with Rocky & Bullwinkle. There's just something magical about the old school, hand drawn animations.. Classics that stand the test of time!

  • That tiger at 0:22 looks like the Pink Panther!

  • Ah, the memories...

  • The only version of the song i remeber is the movie version.

  • Does anyone understand why Ursula divided herself into two in this intro? And in that shortened version used to introduce the George segment of the show?

  • @luiz4200 A running gag is that George has apparently hit so many trees he thinks his wife Ursula has a twin sister, Bella (or Fella, as I have also seen it -- check Wikipedia, they'll know). He calls Ursula "Bella" intermittently, and is puzzled that they are never seen together. She corrects him repeatedly, but it doesn't take. IIRC, this gag was introduced in an early episode as a plot device to get George into/out of some zany situation, and then continued with.

  • _Timpani introduction plays two notes: E flat and B flat. ` ☺_

  • 2 people didn't watch out for that tree

  • When those drums start off, you can feel the energy!!

My niece and nephews love this song, even though they've never seen an original episode.

A group named Dynamix also made a version of this song in the late eighties. Talk about some drums bangin'...

  • I used to watch this every Sunday morning before church. I miss those days.

  • As a kid I thought the song said "A Deet Deet Deet" when it says "an Ape named Ape".

  • Dang right

  • lol i havet seen this since i was young wow

  • Funny thing is, even in the movie, if someone tried to tell George, "Watch out for that..." you name it, he was going to hit it!

  • Watch out for that tree!

  • Watch out for that tree. Watch out for that...AAAAA!!! (BOOM!) TREE!!! LOL!

  • I liked George of the Jungle, because at the end everything went good, although he hardly knew how he did it.

  • FOX KIDS =D COUNTDOWN

  • he might not be so cranky in the moring.

  • if only this guy had a temper peat ick.

  • @andrew49848 I think you mean a Tempur-Pedic, which is a trademark for a type of foam bed.

  • @PCCphoenix yes.

  • The Guy sings sounds like Joe Swanson from Family Guy or George's Face

  • 2 people didn't miss the tree

  • this cartoon is based in the movie george of the jungle(the song is the same)and that movie is based on tarzan

  • @soiramio3000 , you're wrong. This is the original George. This was probably the best Saturday morning cartoon of the late 60s-early 70s. When I was in 2nd grade in 1971, this was must-see TV.

  • U R RIGHT,I MISTAKED.

  • @mmg816 Thanks to the genius of Jay Ward who also brought us: Rocky & Bullwinkle, Dudley Do Right, Fractured Fairy Tales, Peabody's Improbable History and Hoppity Hooper.

  • Still couldn't miss that tree.

  • Oh the kids dance around like silly gooses.

  • so this is the real george of the jungle that i was talking about, right?

geez, why would the newer cartoons shoulda maded so bad compared to the olders cartoons in the 10s to 90s?!

  • classic... still got this theme stuck in my head..lol and yes quit remaking cartoons, just reair the original..

  • I'm 47 and I remember this so foundly. I always cracked up watching this opening every time they sang "watch out for that tree" then slam he swung iinto it. LOL. just a little piece of trivia. Jay Ward was responsible for the making of this cartoon as well as many others such as Super Chicken, Rocky and Bullwinkle, and Underdog.

  • I love this show!! The one on Cartoon Network is just horrible:(

  • @barakanaga16 i gree with you, New George of the Jungle SUCKS!!! Original George of the Jungle FOREVER

  • I remember watching this every morning on Captain Kangaroo as I ate breakfast waiting for the Bill Cosby picture pages segment to come on and later watching it on Rocky and Bullwinkle show. The remake of this show does not even come close to this . However the Brendan Fraser version is the only remake of this that even came close to being just as good as the original!

  • FRIEND TO YOU AND ME! LMAO XD - I love this clip, thank you so much for posting, classic

  • Some one remembers the parody of Tarzan. Thank goodness.

  • More like George of the Frungle

  • watch out for that tree!

  • Me like Fella and Ursula. lol

  • @BarefootCowboy100 LOL if I lived in the jungle with two hotties running around after me I'd be happy too

  • Classic

  • Note to Immortal1000 & GreatCornholio3000:

As far as the 'new' George, which is mercifully OVER & DONE WITH, you have Tiffany Ward to thank for allowing that crap to happen. Jay Ward's daughter must've neede the money BAD. Like when Tex Avery's daughter sold the rights to his name for a show featuring a VERY lame character named...well....

  • Watch out for that tree. Watch out for that...

GEORGE: (Tarzan-like yell; crashes into a tree) Oooh!

    ...Tree!!!

  • This is George Of The Jungle. I'm not sure what to call the new version on CN except a disgrace. Despite the new one's title it isn't George Of The Jungle.

  • @Immortal1000 You're absolutely right. When are they going ot learn to keep hands off the classics. Rosie O'Donnel and the big guy from Roseanne are not Fred and Wilma, The live action Boris and Natasha was eye damagingly painful, I could go on but why? Hey, everybody in Hollywood and the CartoonNetwork HANDS OFF THE CLASSICS! MAKE UP YOUR OWN STUFF FER PETE'S SAKE!!

  • Those were the days, best cartoons ever!

  • I've actually never seen this cartoon. I've only seen the live-action film from Disney.

  • Wow Major Flashback I LOVED THIS CARTOON WHEN I WAS LIKE 12

  • Why didn't CN leave this alone? :(

  • @PriceRight89 I rember when this was on about 22 tears ago cause I used to watch it in the mornings before I headed of to school and it was at that time on MTV

  • the girls names were originally bella and ursula? in the newer CN one is maggie and ursula. hmm...i wonder why the change

  • @shadowsa2b It's Fella and Ursula, who are actually the same person.

  • @winesti Theya re actually Thella and Ursulla. LOL great names, great cartoon.

  • i want episodes!!!! someone find me episodes!!

  • 0:54 No, it is I who will eat you!!!!!!

  • The New George of the Jungle's freakin' horrible. But, let me tell ya, the worst, and I mean the WORST episode out there would be the episodes with the bananaquads! That episode completely turned off my interest in that GotJ! THIS is the George I grew up with! (Along with the Georg of the Jungle movie)

  • george of the jungle, he-man, G.I. Joe and transformers, new cartoons can't compete with those from my childhood. Hell even the simpsons was from my childhood.

  • I think the Simpsons was probably the first animated Television program of any kind that uses all kinds of profanity. That seemed more like

a TV Series that was like a sitcom such as King

of The Hill. Most of these type of shows aren't for kids really.Look at how they use cusswords so much like South Park it is called. Some of this trash i am surprised they allow it on TV even though they allow more then they did years ago it still is a little obscene.

  • nostolgia goggles

  • They should put this back on cartoon network and get rid of the new one

  • @growingsage maybe on boomerang

  • George George George of the jungle watch out for that tree. Never gets old.

  • i remember this cartoon^^

The new series is cute, but this batter than...

  • This was one of the first Cartoons I ever saw on Cartoon Network. The others were The Snorks and Dexter (Season 1)

  • ward kills..........oh yeah.

  • lol this one is way more funier than that gay one on cartoon network

  • Now this is the George of the Jungle we all know and love!

  • No doubt about it. The late, great Paul Frees as the voice of Ape.

  • astig toh

  • This is the one I like forget the new one!

  • thanks for this!!!

  • Now this is the George I remember!

Not the one on Cartoon Network that is stupid

  • The Tookie-Tookie bird is scared silly about George about to crash into his tree, as is that other bird (probably a pelican), that they both shake the tree in terror. They are even still shaking when George instead crashes into another tree.

  • the add that is shown at the bottom is not good, this cartoon is not in the menu, is all bullshit

  • it sounds like The Brothers Four doing the vocals, I bet it is.

  • it is

    god bless jay ward

  • Jay Ward rules! Gotta love a theme song that uses the word 'schlep'!

  • Cool version!!!

  • Great job SD. Love this version!

  • lol..i have not heard that in 15-20 years

  • ooooooh yeah!!!

    classic
