"Science is a religion in the primary sense as defined by many dictionaries in the first or second definitions"
Don't ALL those definitions require as an absolute a belief in the supernatural? Otherwise playing poker is a religion...or ones political beliefs...or even ones trust in ones parents or kids?
At the very least try to stop reinterpreting the dictionary! This guy is laying out a simile...a metaphor....
Do you know what a metaphor is? Well its in the opening sentence of the vid.
I am not using religion as a metaphor. Science is a religion in the primary sense as defined by many dictionaries in the first or second definitions. Metaphorical definitions (fishing is his religion for example) are normally a 3rd or 4th or later definition.
Definition 1: ..., especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies,... Thus, science does not qualify as a religion.
Definition 2: a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion. Again, science does not qualify as it is NOT a set of beliefs. It is a set of observations. Plus, all social interaction has a set of practices.
@MrRhood12 By your logic, brushing my teeth would be a religion because it involves a set of practices.
Definition 3: the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions. Admittedly, you said this one doesn't work, but regardless, science does not fit this one.
My eyes are open, I can see it blow in the wind, with my eyes closed and not physical, I feel it beating across my skin, means the realist thing is the unseen, you want 2 “CLICK MY NAME” 2 know what I mean, it is no secret for I HAVE FOUND IT!
Science changes, religion does not. Science wins!
