Admittedly that was different to the west where we allowed them to form West Germany. Admittedly that was different to the west where we allowed them to form West Germany. But this doesn't just count for Russia; all the other countries did nearly the same or worse to each other. The Katyn Forest massacre, the Malmady massacre, and not to forget the siege of Leningrad and what the Germans forced the Russians to do. So you see, Russians are not "barbaric" and whatnot, but they were just doing the same thing others were doing.

It's a little fast of the interviewer to blankly declare what he did a War crime (sad as it may have been). Germany after the surrender would not have been at War, the SS men would not have been soldiers but attempted murderers. It would have been under martial law of the red army which would have had the death penalty for that sort of thing. It'd also be just before Nuremburg. Nazis who've comitted crimes may be over a 100 years old, they will still be hunted down and be brought to justice. They won't use the same excuse. And yes, I don't consider every nazi a criminal. Their mainfocus was to regain their land, their pride and be free of the opressing debts (WOI). The bad individuals were on either side. But victors write history and hide their part of crimes.

@ComradeAgopian If an able-bodied man is threatened with the prospect of his mother, daughters, and sisters being vehemently raped by invaders, of course he is going to join a fighting force in attempts to stop this. Doing otherwise WOULD make him a slob. It was more like less than 1% of SS soldiers that were evil carrying out the work of Himmler. The rest feared for their country's sovereignty and wanted to protect their families and homes. Foreigners could not enter the regular Army, anyways.

And even if they were, beastly behaviour like this can not be justified by pointing to the other side. Normal SS field units were by FAR not worse then any of these bolshevik pigs+they had discipline and were loyal, something what was unknown in the RA.
