I watched this with my 8 year old son and you really told this story so well . . . you showed respect and made sure the tale was engaging. Thank you for all the hard work that went into this. Top stuff.
You should read "An Odd Kind of Fame: Stories of Phineas Gage" by Malcolm McMillan. Most of the assertions about Gage's personality changes were either greatly exaggerated or flat-out lies. Any severe changes occurred during the time immediately following his injury and during his recovery. Many scientists studying brain function in the 19th century tended to exaggerate Gage's changes in order to advance their own pet hypotheses about neurology and the emotion centers of the brain.
Hollywood should make a movie where he's still alive trolling the woods where it happened, hunting down rich college kids on vacation, and impaling them on his "stake". Then the sequel could have him teaming up with Jason.
Hi I love this and used it in my Freshman ESL class in Turkey. Unfortunately the music is a bit loud in some places so it's difficult to hear. I'd love to see a version without music if possible. The sts really liked it! BRAVO!
This is a really good video. Im studying for my psychology exam at uni, and I'd rather watch this instead of reading endless amounts of pointless dull notes :)
ohhhh ok, so the tamping iron flew straight out of his head......i always thought it got lodged in his brain and stayed there for the rest of his life......would have been more interesting that way
Hey thanks really great vid!! So helpful for my school practice :)
