  • Very helpful - I'm just about to prepare one. Glad you kept the flying squash pieces in!

  • I was looking for an instruction on how to cut a squash and your video was the ticket! Thank you for sharing! I will no longer be intimidated by the process! But I have to admit my favorite part is the 3-year-old interruption :)

  • Thank you for this. I am making butternut squash for Thanksgiving tomorrow and I have never prepared one before. I want to whip them when they're finished cooking and add a little butter and pumpkin spices...I've had it before..it's very good but I've never done it. I hope everyone survives LOL!! Thanks again.

  • Thank you so much!

  • Well dispite some of what others said I throughly enjoyed your video.. smiling simply because I have a 3yr old as well :) thanks for the tips... cheers

  • 1) put the child up somewhere he can watch and 2) with child in kitchen, don't leave knife so close to edge of counter. otherwise, nice vid.

  • This was a first food video for you and it is going to be my first Butternut squash steam cooking. I bought organic one. Yum I hope?

  • its cutting you stupid b!

  • Brits don't believe in spanking. jk lol.... On a bighter note, never seen anyone cut squash that way, awesome! Oh, and, 10 people were too concerned with the title/video differences to fully enjoy the video, how uncultured!?

  • Shame about the baby screaming into the sound box while i have head phones on at full volume trying to catch what you are saying, and nearly had my eardrums blown out....thanks a bundle.

  • OMG I scrolled down to see the comments and you went "AHH!" and I thought you had cut yourself :O But then I scrolled back to the video and you're fine..phew

You make peeling a squash look SO EASY! I need to invest in some sharp utensils....

  • Thanks so much this video is very helpful!

  • Thanks for this, most helpful!

  • Nice boobs

  • @mrkurmis Yes nice boobs.

  • Hey - thanks for this - I actually NEEDED to know how to peel and cut the squash up. I bought one to try a new veg and had no idea where to start. The skin is so darn hard I was not sure what to do.

  • thank... love having the kid in it. made me miss mine being little. no better time to get them to help cooking... just saying.

  • Better video than I've ever uploaded and I have a toddler too - however, the easiest way to prepare/cook a butternut squash is just to put it in the over. Dont even peel it. 30 mins for 'al dente', 45 minutes for soft flesh. Either way it's easy and you dont get points for doing things the hard way.

  • Chad Newman does it a better way.

  • I like the vid...Thanks for sharing!

  • That kid makes the whole video!

  • Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all the feedback. This was the first "food" video I ever did and your comments taught me a lot!

To save anyone else getting their wotsits in a twist, I've now added an annotation at the chopping stage with simple cooking suggestions. :-)

For more recipes you can visit the Veg Box Recipes website - there are loads!

Hope this video is even more useful now.

    Best wishes,

    Clare

  • what a rascal!? i have kids too, they can be nightmares when I'm trying to make my instructional dance videos.

I love squash, especially butternut mmmmm

  • I don't understand. Can you please post a more detailed video that shows me how to dice it up. I am stuck. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the video!! I needed to know how to prepare the squash for cooking and you did it all with your 3 year old. Inspirational to all us mothers who have young children around while cooking.

  • these text comments kill me! LOL! ahahaha! they're right!

  • THIS VIDEO IS TITLED "HOW TO COOK BUTTERNUT SQUASH".........there was nothing in the video about that. It was only how to cut the thing into pieces. How about you make a video showing how to start your car and title it "How to Replace a camshaft in your 1974 Ford 351W"........do you get my point? Rename the video "How to cut a Butternut Squash into a bunch of pieces while a 3 yr old reaches for the butcher knife". LMAO

  • @turdface0522 someone has some anger issues!!!

  • Exactly! I just wasted 2 minutes of my life watching someone DICE, not COOK. Leave it to the Brits.

  • @turdface0522 christ.. wind your neck in

  • please check out my video cherishs magic

and i like the thing u peel it with its kinda kool, but i think its kinda boring cuz ur not cooking it

  • lol. excellent, kid made me laugh. Im going go try out on my Squash now too :)

  • It's easy to cook!

Roast with some oil in a hot oven for half an hour or so depending on how big the pieces are.

Or boil as you would with potato. Roasting tastes nicer though.

  • Thank you for the video. This is exactly what I needed to know! And the slight interruption made me laugh.

  • this should be called how to CUT a butternut squash.

  • This was kind of annoying with the little kid whining in the background! Also this never really tells you how to cook it, just says how to peel it and cut it up. I am still clueless as to how to cook this thing???

  • In a instructional video please dont waste time pealing the whole thing please.

  • Watch that knife with the three year old!! Looks like he can reach the counter tops!!

Pre-school teacher here, sorry I always think of the little ones!!

  • How do you prepare a butternut squash? Go on the net and some kind, domestic godess will have made a Youtube video showing you exactly how. Thank you.

  • thank you. you're obviously a good mother and a good cook. :)

  • This was very helpful, as I just bought butternut squash for the first time. Thank you!

  • Nice peeling instruction, how do you cook it though?
