I was looking for an instruction on how to cut a squash and your video was the ticket! Thank you for sharing! I will no longer be intimidated by the process! But I have to admit my favorite part is the 3-year-old interruption :)
Thank you for this. I am making butternut squash for Thanksgiving tomorrow and I have never prepared one before. I want to whip them when they're finished cooking and add a little butter and pumpkin spices...I've had it before..it's very good but I've never done it. I hope everyone survives LOL!! Thanks again.
Well dispite some of what others said I throughly enjoyed your video.. smiling simply because I have a 3yr old as well :) thanks for the tips... cheers
Brits don't believe in spanking. jk lol.... On a bighter note, never seen anyone cut squash that way, awesome! Oh, and, 10 people were too concerned with the title/video differences to fully enjoy the video, how uncultured!?
Shame about the baby screaming into the sound box while i have head phones on at full volume trying to catch what you are saying, and nearly had my eardrums blown out....thanks a bundle.
OMG I scrolled down to see the comments and you went "AHH!" and I thought you had cut yourself :O But then I scrolled back to the video and you're fine..phew
You make peeling a squash look SO EASY! I need to invest in some sharp utensils....
Hey - thanks for this - I actually NEEDED to know how to peel and cut the squash up. I bought one to try a new veg and had no idea where to start. The skin is so darn hard I was not sure what to do.
Better video than I've ever uploaded and I have a toddler too - however, the easiest way to prepare/cook a butternut squash is just to put it in the over. Dont even peel it. 30 mins for 'al dente', 45 minutes for soft flesh. Either way it's easy and you dont get points for doing things the hard way.
Thanks for the video!! I needed to know how to prepare the squash for cooking and you did it all with your 3 year old. Inspirational to all us mothers who have young children around while cooking.
THIS VIDEO IS TITLED "HOW TO COOK BUTTERNUT SQUASH".........there was nothing in the video about that. It was only how to cut the thing into pieces. How about you make a video showing how to start your car and title it "How to Replace a camshaft in your 1974 Ford 351W"........do you get my point? Rename the video "How to cut a Butternut Squash into a bunch of pieces while a 3 yr old reaches for the butcher knife". LMAO

While watching this complete waste of time video, I was hoping the kid would grab the knife from the counter and stick it into your thigh. DO NOT LEAVE A BIG KNIFE within reach of a child like you did in the lame ass video and you wont get comments like this. Also, do what you say you're gonna do in the video...........SHOW ME HOW TO COOK THE CRAP.............any retard can cut a vegetable into pieces. Oh wait......SORRY........are you retarded??.......that was very insensitive of me
This was kind of annoying with the little kid whining in the background! Also this never really tells you how to cook it, just says how to peel it and cut it up. I am still clueless as to how to cook this thing???
How do you prepare a butternut squash? Go on the net and some kind, domestic godess will have made a Youtube video showing you exactly how. Thank you.
Very helpful - I'm just about to prepare one. Glad you kept the flying squash pieces in!

1) put the child up somewhere he can watch and 2) with child in kitchen, don't leave knife so close to edge of counter. otherwise, nice vid.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all the feedback. This was the first "food" video I ever did and your comments taught me a lot!
To save anyone else getting their wotsits in a twist, I've now added an annotation at the chopping stage with simple cooking suggestions. :-)
For more recipes you can visit the Veg Box Recipes website - there are loads!
Hope this video is even more useful now.
Best wishes,
Clare

It's easy to cook!
Roast with some oil in a hot oven for half an hour or so depending on how big the pieces are.
Or boil as you would with potato. Roasting tastes nicer though.
