  • i just love these sketches and drawings!! the variety, and characters and a unique style all her own absolutely love it!! she is really gifted......

  • This is what my sketchbooks used to look like when I was going to school.. I miss it dearly. The working world has sucked all my time for inspiration away, unfortunately. Enjoy it while you can, pretty girl. Covet and hoarde all those drawings and all those sketchbooks with all your heart and soul, you're going to need them to look back on later in life.

  • what an inspiring sketchbook

dont understand why the top two comments dont reflect this

  • Dana is hot

  • i think it's cute how shy dana is. :)

  • the natural ability sets your starting point further ahead. Anyways, I'm done with this conversation now.

  • @kendahke Yet the talent isn't discovered without practice right?

  • no such thing as talent?....lol

  • She's got talent!

  • Hey you guys, i have some quick questions for dana if she gets the time about how she draws people in general. thanks you guys, just send me a message if you want to answer them, much appretiation!

  • then lets just take the word talent out of the dictionary WRONG!!

  • talent comes from practice. Evryone has talent in them but it takes a true hardworking person to manifest it. So in reality we all have potential talent bt u hav to work to gt it to show

  • @msedwardelric12 This i can agree with.

  • Why do people keep calling art a talent? It's not, people just believe their crap on their first try and don't continue, you have to keep drawing to become good at it. After one year i got increasingly better but that was because i did it almost every day.

  • @Luigia525 uhhh, yeah, it is. just because some body PRACTICES doesnt mean they have TALENT. art is a talent, it can be gained naturally, with no practice, it is a passion. shut your mouth if you cant keep an open mind.

  • @gothbabii188 Your an idiot, art isn't talent, hence why we call some people 'talented artists'. An artist needs talent to become professional however people can still be amazing artists without talent. And also your a hippocrite cause your the one lacking an open mind. So as ppl say stfu.

  • @Luigia525 no, i DO have an open mind but i never said that practice wont improve it. quite frankly, you're stupid as fuck. You can't use "you're" right, (Beginnning of your response) and you made it sound like I said something I didn't. And I understand completley what "art" means. ;)

  • @gothbabii188 Wait the part about say8ng nobody can do art without talent is slighty wrong cause i shortened but even if i corrected it, your realy boring to argue with, and you are wrong about artistic talent. But i just don't have the effort to reply

  • @gothbabii188 Also even somebody who has talent, they still need practise, talent is basically just a fuelling system thatt drives the artist. What your saying is that as soon as someone who has talent is born they wont need practise. Oh also art isn't just drawing or painting, it uncludes music and writing. And it is known that anyone who practises these can do them.

  • @Luigia525 I think it is a talent. A talent you can obtain through practise and hardwork, but to not call it a talent kind of belittles that hardwork and practise. Following your line of thought nothing is a talent because everything requires hard work to achieve a level better than your starting point. Obviously some people's starting points will be at a higher level than others...though I suppose if everything's a talent, the word becomes meaningless?

  • Does Dana have a deviantART account?

  • Really great sketchbook. Amazing linework and colors!

  • I like anime better

  • @pinkiebuts131 Of couse you do....

  • so u teach in an art school ? ( college )

  • so pervent

  • @shonenarts23 If you're talking about the naked people that isn't perverted, it's art. You might as well get used to it because alot of artists do draw naked people I'm not quite sure how to explain it but it's just something that they do

  • @xDuckiiesx i'm not talking about like the naked drawings but like uggggggggggg!!! i forgot!!!

  • @shonenarts23 If you think drawing naked people is perverted, if you attempt to draw a cartoon, it is going to look awkward , blocky , clumsy and lifeless, good luck with that. Drawing nude is the basis, to see how muscles form, how you would shade them, how you can draw the cartoons body accurately. I drew nudes and my cartoons are so much better, the shading is right and the body is more fluid. Clearly, you are very young, if you want to take art. You will learn.

  • @brittanyverjes1 i draw manga a lot actually i just don't think all of the artist draw all those naked drawings i think there only for sculpturings or there hobby to do i'm not trying to say like to draw those pervent drawings i know its nartural for them it just that i never saw the artist who can draw like this before

  • @shonenarts23 I see, well I don't draw magna but I draw cartoons but I am in Graphic Design and Illustration. If you wanted to take art in college, they will make you draw nudes. The creators of the PowerPuff Girls, Johnny Bravo , Flinstones & Sailor Moon ,Pokemon more than likely drew nudes. You have to learn how to draw realistically before you stylize (cartooning) the rule goes. It's pretty normal. They aren't only for sculptures etc, everyone in art school basically does.

  • @brittanyverjes1 actually i'm a middle schooler and you miss spelled (manga). well that sounds really cool graphic designs and illustration i'm a illustrator and animator by the way

  • @shonenarts23

Haha manga, magna, I am not into that sort of thing and it shows. Good for you.

  • I love the drawing with the prosthesis. What a gifted artist she is.

  • Well, time to start doodling some pikachu. ;3;

  • why the hell someone so talented hiding from a camera awesome sketchbook

  • Her sketchbook is so AWESOME!!

  • her figures are so beautifull... did you make those from imagination?

  • 1:59 How can you never watch TV but have a but load of Pokemon on that page?

  • 1:59 DUUUUUUUDE!!

  • Amaaaaaazing talent!

  • I FUCKING LOVE YOU DANA. BE MY LOVER. or have my babies. that's cool too.

  • great series, nice too see all the sketchbooks, dana is a great artist , it must be a real privalige as teacher to work with such great talents.Keep up the good work.

my 2 cnts on the practise vs talent discussion, I think evry body got talent but drawing practise will show you what style works best with your character, If you draw in a way not fitting yours it can be very counterproductiv.

  • I'm never watch tv again. Fuck TV i'm drawing 24/7

  • D: why only one or two pictures? they're all amazing!

  • What's a good career to pursue if your talented at drawing like dana?

  • Aw, Dana is pretty

  • I want her coat...

  • i love to draw .....but i think im love with dana more .....shes hot and she can draw...

  • That's some serious talent. One of the most fun sketchbooks I've seen on this channel so far.

  • does she have a DA???

  • i love all these omg great... i deas cant belive this i wish i could draw this good great creative... wow... all i draw is disney...

  • o _O A bit camera shy???^_^She's quite talented though, hehe maybe you an send her my regards.Browsing through the sketchbooks of others is great research and a good source of influence,Keep it up! you're a good teacher.

  • nice to see not all your students are obsessed with demons and peter pan

  • @0ImSoSorry0 I know right! She is really amazing! VERY talented

  • This inspired me to go draw :D

  • @knightmonx2 Watercolor is an extremely happy and fun medium- maybe you should try that. Other mediums you kind of have to be straightforward with and practice a lot with, but watercolor is a free and wild medium, and it's one of my absolute favorites!

  • Women alwasy draw naked women, and men also draw always naked women. Everytime i recognize this.... something strange is going on

  • @XxJingisxX I think it's because most of the models they use in class are women. :I

  • I have a question: How old do you have to be to take one of your classes?

  • well this is amazing!

  • I love the way she turns away from the camera and matts chuckle! Haha I keep replaying it

  • I know Dana from deviant art :D

  • @razzuberry what's her username?

  • @JennaSweeeet I don't want to say encase she doesn't want to give out her dA

  • @razzuberry can you message it to me?

  • This is AMAZING, Dana! you're an artist!

  • She's beautiful no need to be camera shy ;)

  • There's no such thing as talent... the only thing that makes artist such as Dana is practice.

  • @jdkjkjdkjdks and not watching tv lol

  • @jdkjkjdkjdks Absolutely correct

  • @jdkjkjdkjdks , yeap , maybe there people that drawing its easier for them , but the practice its one of the best too learn something , and alsoo whatch and learn how the better ones does it help you alot , and it may sound like o rip off but copy drawing will give you a best idea a better drawing stile or , just wacth the human body and drawings

  • @jdkjkjdkjdks You're so wrong, lol. Practice is vital, but without initial talent you're nothing.

  • @SmokiSounds ......you do realise thats a load of bull people start drawing at many different stages in life some when there 10 some in their 20s 30s 40s etc. nobody starts off brilliant and this so called talent everyone goes on about if people draw a lot starting at a very young age then there obviously gonna be better than another whose only been drawing about a year taking into account their the same age people call it talent if you start at a young age but its just practice over time

  • @foxblade2 Calm down. You can practice all you want - without a talent for it you'll be nothing.

  • @SmokiSounds So when do you know when you do have talent? I've been brooding on this for ages... People tell me I do have talent but I think my drawings are in no way 'natural-looking'...

  • @midairman 'how do you know if you have talent', my mistake...

  • @jdkjkjdkjdks you are sooooo right

  • @jdkjkjdkjdks I suspect that too. Everyone sucks at drawing when they start, just some think their good so they keep at it.

  • @jdkjkjdkjdks There is such thing as talent. People with talent need to practice less or find it easier and more fun. However practice is obviously really important too.

  • @jdkjkjdkjdks talent is only the will to practice, thats how dana became this good :)

  • @jdkjkjdkjdks I disagree. One can practice til times get better and still not have the eye that can come to another naturally.

  • @kendahke are u an artist, did u draw for 10 or over 10 years, when u do draw like that call me coz,,,i had no talent when i started my stick man looked horrible a practiced and practiced...people now admire my work.so stfu!!!!

  • @DrawingInHeart why, yes, I am an artist and I have been drawing for well over 40 years and I make a living off of it, not just get polite responses from my friends on my work. I"m not going to call you for anything because I do not have to prove anything to you. Now why don't YOU go enjoy that nice cup of stfu.

  • @kendahke if u were and artist,u would know that drawing doesent just come to u,u have to earn to draw good,

  • @kendahke You can develop that eye through practice...

  • @FrostyVirgo but then after that comes really deep thought. But I was anyways born with a talent passion with art.

  • @ColourfulLeopard I mean, you can be born with a certain mind or body that is better suited in some mild ways, but you're not REALLY born with more talent. You may be born with the passion, which certainly helps.

  • @FrostyVirgo that's basically what I said. One's "practice" will get them as far as their non-artistic ability will carry them, but they will never have the "eye" of someone for whom artistic expression comes naturally.

  • @kendahke That's not really natural talent though. A natural talent is something you're born able to do, like singing. Natural passion? Yes. A natural desire to express yourself is not the same as naturally being able to be good at something. As much as you want to, you still have to practice to get better. The passion is just a kick-start.

  • @jdkjkjdkjdks yes it depends. Practice does make you better, talent is also possible. I was born with talent as my family and people around have told me. I was born an artist. I use to climb my dads book shelf's to get paints and paper. Kids in my school have always say my drawing are amazing. I had those kind of comments since I was born. So what make me an artist is my very soul, my soul is my talent, my soul is very very unique and different from others. Unworldly I would say.

  • You are either born with that talent or you're not. You CAN improve with practice, so there is some hope for the rest of us, but it must be great to be able to draw like Dana naturally. Mind blowing stuff with so many different styles. I am so envious

  • @hang3xc (late reply) Haha okay no one is born with talent, I certainly wasn't. It just all comes from hard work and sacrificing your social life to spend time in your sketchbook.

  • @DanaTerrace

practice all you want it will help but without a talent base to start with your still just practicing stick figures

  • Awww you have a very beautiful sketchbook!Don't be so shy! :3

  • i'm like so addicted to tv/internet videogames, i know i need to turn them off and practice more, but i find it hard to do that... man i wish i could find a happy medium.... does anyone else struggle with this too?

  • The page on the right at 1:52 is incredible. Many of your artists are very good at filling up the page in an appealing way, especially this artist. What is a good technique for laying out sketches so that they don't run into each other, they compliment one another, and make for a good overall presentation?

  • Dana's off the hook with skills

  • wow...she has talent...I hope she keeps up with it

  • wow her works are beautiful and i envy her line art. Its very full and alive. Not flat and lifeless.

  • please post more of danas work

    shes such a great artist...

  • Her works the best Ive seen so far brilliant!

  • neat stuff

  • Love it!!!

  • Really phenomenal skill there. She's so shy! LOL. I don't know what she's shy about. Amazing work. Wish she had a site up. I'd love to take a look at more of her work.

  • she's awesome

  • she has insane skills

  • Dana ROX!

She really needs to channel some of that into a website or something. Open up a Deviant Art account and start posting some of those sketches and drawings.

  • Hey! she drew a dachshund...hurray! My favourite dog.

  • I think Dana is cute :) Fabulous works too...

  • I know you don't want me to ask you questions, but let me ask you some questions. Haha, oh Matt. xD Nice SB Dana!

  • what's the artist (life drawing artist) that he mentioned Michael something?

  • 1:32 "It's kinda weird huh"/"yeah". How rude.

  • Weird isn't an insult....it actually does describe her works.

  • No, he didnt describe her work as weird. She referred to herself as weird for not watching tv in kind of joking, nervous way; and he agreed.

  • Ah must of missed that yeah that is quite rude.

  • girl is awesome

  • Picture at 2:59 is so awesome.

  • Ive followed Dana's work for quite some time. Her variety is quite amazing.

and camera shy to boot XD, dont worry Dana your doin great.

  • Such a talented artist.

AWSOME BOOK. mine is 1 tenth that good

  • Mine is 1/20 that good ^^

  • the picture with dogs was cool! GOOD JOB!

  • GREAT WORK ! and pretty girl ;)

  • wow!!! I wish that I could draw like that! I could work for hours on one drawing like that and it would come out as a gray, eraser-stained blob that sort of looks like what I was trying to get at.

  • nice sketchbook

  • lightweight but she is really amazing with her artwork, im truely jealous and yet inspired.

  • Wow. Awesome job!

  • Excellent work! Your a good artist!

  • why she's so shy... she shouldnt be... anyways, tell her a very Good job!

  • 1:53 is just inspiring. Well done. :]

  • Compulsive drawing at its best

  • So it would help me to get better at drawing if I would practice drawing instead of YouTube? XD

Humor aside: those drawings are amazing!!! Props to you Dana!!!

  • Wow I'd love to see more of her work! She's amazing!

  • I only wish I can be this good one day

  • I actually bring a separate sketch book with me when I travel so I can get every artist I meet to draw in it. Makes for a nostalgic look later on.

  • great looking sketchbook

  • WOW...thats great...really really great...

  • wow she freakin amazing... i wish i could do something like that

  • I am saving this link to my google calendar

  • Beautiful girl and beautiful work. Very talented!

  • please post more of these kind of videos about your students! very insightful! thanks!

  • I agree.

  • absolutely hillarious, Dana !

  • My TV has been broken for a week and I've been drawing a lot more. I don't think I could stay off the Internet however. I wonder though, it'd probably help, less distraction. I use the Internet for references, and I get a lot of inspiration from other artists on the Internet.

  • i really like the right page at 1:59

    POKEMONS ARE AWESOME

  • Thanks everyone for your comments. Yea she kicks butt. I've got a few more very talents students that I'll showcase soon. I posted her drawings on my blog, You can enlarge them to see them more close up.

  • Extreme talent, I am very impressed. I can pull off some pretty nice drawings but it takes me a while. Every learns at their own pace I guess. Matt, I have a drawing tablet, Do you know any sketching programs that are good besides Corel Painer and the Adobe suite?

  • Wow! Awesome sketchbook! BEAUTIFUL work! Very inspiring!

  • Great Drawing very motivating.

  • NO T.V. and NO internet? I M P O S S I B L E

  • That is probably the key. No TV and no internet probably took her down the path of creativity, originality and most likely the time to fill up her entire sketchbook with drawings. Something i personaly should try...

  • great work!
