i think what makes Bloc Party so different is the fact that they're not detached from their emotions. their songs feel more real because they're not as generic. Most of the songs on "A Weekend in the City" prove this. especially the last two: "Sunday" and "SRXT".

only BLoc Party could make a song about loving a hungover girl or medicine that has strong suicide tendencies very gentle and tranquil

i used to really like the whole album idea, but anymore i have been getting into bands in their complete catalog i just shuffle all of their stuff and really cant find too much bad to say about any of it at all. since i listen to it that way its just a way of saying, ok they were in this mood on this track and felt like this on that one, good lyrics and great musical talent, what else can you ask for, a friggin circus to jump out and have flying monkeys juggle chainsaws while filing your taxes?

Intimacy, just like all of Bloc Party's albums, is pure genius. The only reason people think its "horrible" is probably because they're so used to hearing a certain style from Bloc Party that when they hear something different they assume it's shit. It's all well and good if you like a certain style of music, but if you can't open your mind enough to appreciate how brilliant some of the tracks on Intimacy are, I can't imagine how boring you might be as a person! Haha. I kid =)

Yh i agree with what ur saying but still i think that they went crazy with effects and have swayed far from their original sound which i love.

I think they went crazy buying pedals n korg kaoss pads to experiment and make the sounds on Intimacy which annoys me cos i really liked a weekend in the city aswell as silent alarm n the remixed version.

Although i think they're actually a experimental/electro band in disguise as indie cos they didnt have the money at the begining.

i completely 100% agree. when i first heard mercury when they put it up on their myspace. i was so devastated. but i persevered with faith because i believe so much in bloc party, bought intimacy the day it came out, & as i listened more & more, i loved more & more. bloc party are not the band that you will hear on the radio, listen to until the station makes you sick of it, & then you move on to another song. you can listen to them for years, gaining appreciation for the songs as time goes on.

Yeah, Kele has such a unique voice and pesentation of lyrics in all of his songs. I think Mercury was one of the tracks they produced to keep up their mainstream fan base. But yeah, they tried to keep their new album more underground... I have all their albums, much respect to them, very good bands.

They will inspire many, one already being myself.

I agree 100% with both these comments. As you listen to intimacy more and more, you become fasinated with the songs on there. People were dissappointed with their change in music, and most people wanted another Silent Alarm. Buts lets face it, Silent Alarm was one of the greatest albums on the planet to date, and almost impossible to make another as good as that. Weekend in the city was up there too. But now Bloc Party have produced an album which is different to mainstream convention, I love it

Absolutely, name one classic song on the new album... its garbage compared to AWITC and Silent Alarm. I was so excited when the album leaked but was totally disappointed. I hate when bands try to change their style when theyre already amazing, ie Death Cab For Cutie

Intimacy is brilliant. It took me a while to get used to it, but it's so good. Classics: Talons, Halo, One Month Off and Ares.

I still prefer AWITC, but I think that Intimacy stands up very well in Bloc Party's back catalogue.

I agree it's different, but garbage? Never. It took me a bit to get used to some of the songs but now I absolutely love it.

Personal favourites: Ares, Ion Square (how can you not like it?), Talons, Biko... pretty much the whole album lol.

As for DCFC, I didn't much like 'Plans' as I feel it was too commercial however, Narrow Stairs has totally renewed my faith in the band.
