  • im getting chillsss... im a freshman right now... now im a bit concerned...

  • This song came out when i was a freshman. So many memories.

  • one of the few GREAT songs i have seen that has no dislikes.....well done

  • I hate to sound like a dick, but the lyrics are "stop" a babys breath and a shoe full of rice. And it refers to a young couple getting an abortion so they don't feel like they have to get married as "Freshman".. If I'm wrong I apologize.

  • OMG!! Love this song!!! I had completely forgot about it! Don't hear it much anymore. thanks for the reminder!

  • this song should be the class anthem at my school... for real..

  • i used to diss this tune for being so musically simple. it's really quite perfect though, isn't it? (well, when I was young, i thought i knew everything [about music]) :)

  • I heard this song a ton of times, but when I heard it today, I burst into tears. Why? I'm not sure....

  • @perpboredom I believe the lyrics actually say "Stomping baby's breath with a shoe full of rice" which would indicate they were at a wedding. Baby's breath flowers and rice are typically thrown at a wedding.

  • @051Turk It is stop a baby's breath. It is talking about abortion and the fact that since the baby is dead now there doesn't need to be a wedding

  • What does 'stop a babys breath and a shoe full of rice,no' mean?

  • @perpboredom "stop a baby's breath" - abortion. "shoe full of rice" - wedding cancelled. (in case the answers you got were confusing)

  • Love this song.

  • I did this song for my Duet in hip hop dance. People were crying at the end of our dance.

  • @xMurderInWonderlandx im curious. was it remixed? how'd that apply to hip hop dance? (no sarcasm... i actually work in music and i simply didn't expect this to cross over at ALL into a genre - even if it is dance and not music in this case)

  • A lot of guys are assholes, they're so eager to use their dicks but wont be a man and take responsibility for their actions.

  • @roxvid2 Thats a pretty broad statement considering the millions of guys out there that love the fact they're a father and wouldn't change it for all the money in the world.

By "A lot of guys" do you mean a majority or just some maybe......????

If we're making sweeping generlisations then SOME girls are bitches, all they worry about is themselves and their hair, they think guys are some emotionless monsters because they've had a bad relationship or two.

  • @watchyourself84 It goes both ways mos def. Generation 'Y' is the worst when it comes to relationships and responsibility due to our over-sexed society.

  • @roxvid2 yup. but many more live up to the responsibility and adore their kids.

  • lyrics are wrong, it's "his girl took a weeks worth of valium and SLAPPED HIM"

  • @sayittomyface049 please god tell me ur being sarcastic

  • Thank you nicdhill for posting this. Great job with the lyrics. And bless all of you who, like me, struggle with the themes in this song. May we all find peace one day.

  • I grew up listening to this song and now.... after all these years... i understand the song by reading what u all write. wow. This is so depressing.

  • att: dumb ass who dont know what this song is about

its about a guy and a girl who are having a babe guy wants to abort girl thinks that guy loves her. epic confusion blah blah blah. thats the basic more detail just search or the lyrics and it should explain at the bottom. so yeah i love this song

  • whats reallt sad is that this song ( if you know what its about) is relatable, especially if a tradgety struck you, its an amazing song tho, it has so much meaning.

  • brilliant song. there is so much feeling! =D i love you william..

  • i think it might be talking about abortion and suicide and the longing for redemption.

  • i think you're right

  • I've heard this song before, but for the first time I understand what he was actually singing about. It's actually quite tragic, but the theme is these young men, these "freshmen," will not take responsibility for the tragedies befalling their lovers. In the first case, an abortion, the second, a suicide, placing instead the blame on the girl for having fallen in love with him in the first place. I was thinking of singing this at a graduation, but now it doesn't seem appropriate.

  • @Alexanadu well really how is it the guys fault. the girls didnt have to kill themselves

  • @vansboardsk8er12 I don't know, I didn't write the song. Ask them.

  • I believe that you' re getting totally wrong impression about the meaning of the lyrics in the first case as the lyrics on the video are wrong - it' s actually "stomping on baby' s breath (flower that is often used in wedding bouquets) and shoefull of rice" so the lyrics refer to a wedding, not abortion.

  • @1983tequille You could be right, perhaps it refers then to a wedding that would never happen. Still, that's pretty tragic, no? Can't believe I made that comment two years ago and and still getting a response!

  • @Alexanadu

lol yeah that' s the power of youtube :)

I always though that that song was about a girl who was seducing boys reagardless of whether they were in a relationship or not and sometimes the consequences were pretty bad - such as a cancelled wedding or a relationship crisis ...

  • @Alexanadu Wow...I never knew that this song was about something so heavy ♥♥

  • @Alexanadu He got her pregnant so she got an abortion then felt guilty and killed herself and he blames her for being in love with him??? I have never understood this song.

  • @shadowman2192 He's singing about two separate incidents. The first is about himself and his girl. She gets the abortion, he feels guilty. The second is about his best friend.

  • @Alexanadu What does he mean when he says his friend took and vacation to forget her and she took a weeks worth of valium and slept?

  • @shadowman2192 I'd imagine his best friend and his girlfriend broke up. The best friend just needed a week to forget her, but the girlfriend, being so heartbroken and unable to cope, killed herself. She clearly cared far more for him than he did for her.

  • what is this song about?

    i love it.

  • This song is about this girl and guy freshmen having a child and the guy wants the girl to get an abortion, that stops the wedding (shoe full of rice), and the girl commits suicide. This is a mainly true story. The girl, the abortion, and the fact they are freshmen are true. The girl didn't commit suicide though.

  • uhhh how the heck does this song remind you of twilight? it has nothing to do with anything that goes on in those books. it's a beautiful song and i just don't see it.

  • @101MonkeyGirl101 Don't ever mention that garbage twilight in reference to this song.

  • yah monkey girl dont even try...coz this song is epic... and twilight is my dick

  • My friend John re did this and he sounds exactly the same, though he does it a little faster :)

  • just in case the frist comment didn't make it clear this is now and has been my favorite song for some time now

  • i don't know why but i can't stop watching this video. i took me almost a week just to find out what the name of this song is, it was strating to piss me off because of how much i love this song.

  • thanks thi song is timeless!
