Does anyone else think that the man playing Sherwin Harris would make an exellent David Koresh, should a movie ever be made based on the Waco massacre?
Pity that these two social degenerates @slovakmath and @LearnToReadTheKuran are arguing over such pitiful reasons and are missing on the true picture... hang your egos on a wall and watch the video for what it is
i may be an atheist but im not a fucking pacifist, I would love nothing more than to give you that chance of putting a knife in teh back of my head, name/address is all i need
why do these retards join xtianity, islam, jim jones cult, etc? they are all for degenerate people with degenerate minds incapable of elementary reasoning and critical thinking skills
@LearnToReadTheKuran how can a race be a terrorist, we are all products of our environment, take a kid from saudi arabia and raise him in moscow and he will develop the social norms of the russians. take a kid from norway and raise him in peruvian andies and he will develop the social norms of the inca tribes. so a "race" is not to blame, only society and the social norms of one society over others
@LearnToReadTheKuran also if you dont call islam a cult for degenerates... then what do you call the members of a cult founded by a plagiarist, epileptic, pedifile?
@LearnToReadTheKuran Delusional monkeys and/or mindless sheep do not scare me. You're a poor, pitiful, sad, and contemptible excuse for a human being.
it seemed to be a good thing! the whole Jim Jones's idea of peace and love with all colour, and live together in a community with people who think and want the same, in a foreign place where we could be always together, live in peace far from all terrible things that are going on all around the world! it could have been beautiful!
but he was a crazy freak he was planing this "protesting suicide", he hurted and sequestred his people and he didn't want the world to know! it ended a nightmare :(
@xxChiQuiTitaxx73 It still can be and still is a beautiful Idea. Take a look at all the sustainable communities or communal living enviroments in the United States. Jones had the right idea but he was a sick person on the inside using peace, love, and ,loves #1 advocate, Jesus as a foundation for deception. Nothing on earth could be more evil.....
@MattyTheMole no man should control other's man life, ever! we're all the same and free! that's why it didn't work out because jones wanted to be their chief, he was sort of a dictator! but it was such an amazing idea! you know if i would have lived during the 70's i think i would have followed jones cause i want peace! but i would have done anything to escape or to speak to the congress man and begged him to bring the police when i'd realised it was not peace but a living nightmare i was in
it seemed to be a good thing! the whole Jim Jones's idea of peace and love with all colour, and live together in a community with people who think and want the same, in a foreign place where we could be always together, live in peace far from all terrible things that are going on all around the world! it could have been beautiful!

5:23 I met him yesterday the father of my teacher. When she stared talking about her sister it was sad and Mr. Harris has worked a lot to get over it :( we watched the movie and it's really sad and i want to watch it again because i couldn't see anything with the tears
The congressman should of had DSS(Diplomatic Security Service) agents from the from the US embassy in Guyanna with him to at least give the people at the airstrip a chance to survive, i dont think anyone thought that would happen though im sure if the congressman asked for help from the embassy as far as protection they would have granted it
the reason they left him alone was because cia was paying for this the embasaor in guyana was told to step down, the last recordings u have jones saying to known cia agent to get out or he would be hurt, they where grabbiong the infoi about the mindwahing experiment and before they lçeft jones was shot in bacj of the head by ciav agent, he was the only one that didnt want back to usa with rest of congressmans ppl and the last to leave jonestown this is on record they pulled the plug because cong
Leo Ryan was an extremely brave man. He recieved the Congressional Medal of Honor but they NEVER named a ship after him like the did after other medal of honor reciepient. Jackie Spiers the woman that took Loe's place is a political hack and she refuses to petition the DOD to name a ship after Leo. Leo was a US Navy Veteran.
they knew these people in jonestown were not only crazy but armed and dangerous. Why the hell did the congressman not bring guns? i don't understand, he seems like an intelligent man did he really think he was going to convince a crazy, armed, dangerous, leader to let anybody go peacefully? he should have brought force.
I don't know about the CIA, but i do find it rather funny that Jim Jones didn't receive an assassin's bullet since he was such an extreme orator. A specious prophet of socialist utopia veiled under christian redemption who commits criminal acts, sounds like a nutter. Meanwhile, King gets one in the jaw, and Malcolm X is shotgunned to death, i'm not sure of CIA involvement in these either but, all things considered, its funny Jones had such free reign.
@candiceevans1 - As far as I know, none of the Jonestown survivors agree with you. The ones who actually lived in Jonestown. In my opinion, there is no credible evidence to support the whole CIA claim. Jim Jones was a sick, sick man.
@TreblePop I agree with you. If Jonestown was a big time CIA operation I think the CIA would've done a better job in making sure the media, particularly Leo Ryan and the Concerned relatives, would not know that Jonestown existed. If the CIA was behind the massacre do you think that they would've allowed the FBI to release the death tape and the other tapes that were found? I don't think so.
Leo Ryan was a very brave man. He was the only government official brave enough to do something about it. The American ambassador in Guyana was unfriendly and dismissive of the concerned relatives. He refused to lift a finger to help. He later got a promotion. Shame.
A Congressman, especially one just recently elected, would have an extremely difficult time getting the U.S. Government to authorize and supply an armed unit for a trip such as this one that was a personal fact-finding trip, not one requested by Congress or a subcommittee. Imagine if you had a bunch of Congressmen running all over the World on their own authority with armed teams supplied by the Government. What a nightmare.
Ryan had been in Congress for five years, so he just won his fourth term. Also, he traveled to Newfoundland with Jim Jeffords (a republican) to try to stop the slaughter of seals. He seemed very "hands on." People warned him but he really believed he could work it out with Jones.
Why did'nt Leo Ryan bring some muscle? If 5-10 heavily armed secret service or military special ops had come along during the visit the outcome could have been different. They knew goin in how crazy Jonestown was...
I don't think a lot of naive politicians know what they are getting into half the time. Leo thought that Jones was reasonable and for some reason didn't listen to the people who were actually able to give him the reality of what they were dealing with.
The whole made for TV movie is on Google video. The film is a bit slip shod and low budget but Powers Booth is incredible. I think the reason he was not as successful as he should have been was because SAG was on strike when he crossed a picket line to accept his Emmy for the Jones role.
GUYANA TRGEDY: THE STORY OF JIM JONES is too gruesome and too heartwrenching to watch for me, especially when everybody drank the Kool Aid. Watching when the children all died upset me the most.
