Wow, I never saw this one!! I love it. I want to be random... Hmmmm. I will think on this and get back with a random responce in due time. Which could be... erm... a while. LOL! :)
A few years back, a mathematical genius named Steven Wolfram wrote a huge book called "A New Kind of Science". Much of it involved randomness and complexity. The book, now available online, offers a definition of Random. If you're really interested in this subject, follow this link to this book's definition of Randomness:
That was awesome! You're a pretty good shot. What about using the words that were left?
I got the big dictinary the public library used when I was a kid. It was wierd to think I was looking up words 25 years ago on the same pages. To think what the book's history was. Each page had somone's short moment. The same title is cool, but the actual book is awesome. It's almost as if it was being held for you.
i think you brought one of the most important points up in this video, the definition of random. which has been mostly ignored until now. thnx for that.
I can't answer math questions, but I can answer this one. The idea came from the way that the name "Dada" was chosen for the art movement. There are several theories, and one is that it was chosen at random by stabbing a French-German dictionary with a knife, picking the word it landed upon. Who knows if that idea is really true, but I was inspired by it.
Man, I was hoping nobody would bring that up. : / I chose that particular fold because all the other folds I know are far more complicated and are very difficult to do with out proper origami paper. (Copy paper is too thick). Haha, so yeah, that wasn't meant to be overanalyzed.
That would still have restricted her to the first 36 pages of the book. I realize it's a moot point anyway, because FME's vlog was about subjective randomization.
and...Pork! << This phrase is used far too rarely.
Fabulous video -- I like that it's creative and random simultaneously. You have the randomness and the "making of" in the same video, and it all fits together neatly.
wtf the dice was random

Great idea! How does one come up with folding a copied page, shooting on it and writing down the shot words?

And you Americanized it. Brilliant. I'm sure you will soon work off the bad karma from shooting an origami crane, a symbol of peace.

And anyway, I didn't do it out of violence, I did it in the name of Art! LOL.

Was the use of base 6 randomizers to generate a base 10 page number deliberate or ...?
DrGerbils 5 years ago
Good question! :)
She should have converted the numbers from the base-6-system to the decimalsystem. *geek alert!*

I know... how can it be under five minutes long and still contain so much? TheIronVox does that too. The Force must be strong in these people.
When I compose an e-mail it takes me half a page just to clear my throat.

Guns, books, and dice. Hmm, a recipe for mischief, science, or "pork". This search for
randomness is getting out of hand. You should check out "Prepoceros" video.

Precoperos has added her own spice to the random soup. (=
And get this. It's straight out of the video's description:
"I thought this would be quick, but I shot it in one take, which came out at 23 minutes."
Twenty-three? There's no escape, it would seem.
AericWinter 5 years ago
Whoa. I'll head over and check that out.

"Show the world how you define random" What a message.
I can't believe you hit that crane 23 times. (23! Coincidence?) Is it just me or is there something undesputably sexy about a girl with a gun?
Unfortunately, I've got a lot of university work to finish right now, but I'll promise to give some thoughts to the words you've shot out.
Keep up the good work!
AericWinter 5 years ago
Yeah I thought it was odd to get another 23 as well. My 23rd birthday is also coming up...will the planets align in some spectacular way?
