Just back from Kosmic Kens psychedelic Festival in Devon, my god the music was fucking awful I was expecting some great stuff like this. So good to be home and listen to this great live track :-)
I was at this gig. The weather had been awful and the intended venue for this gig was a big top style tent in the grounds of the venue. The big top flooded and System 7 were relocated into the function room of the venue. It was an awesome, intimate gig. They rocked the place. Happy Daze!
Yes...I had recently heard the 777 album and was totally blown away and went to the Megadog as System 7 were one of the 3 acts on. I ended up going to nearly every one and saw, The Grid, Ultramarine,Underworld,Eat Static,Transglobal Underground,Timeshard and loads of other amazing stuff then we had 3 kids and had to stop but it kind of coincided with the drop in popularity of the music thanks to the Criminal Justice Bill probably...
This music just kills me, brings the chills down my spine, SH and Miquette, Gong, System, the masters of the trippy world.
Saw system 7 live once and met them, even spoke with the master himself one tme the played in the azcapotzalco (mexico) oil refinery, it was so unreal.
I have all gong, music for the mind and spirit, and system 7.
Just listen!!!, what else needs to be said, the only master mix from the old time hippie era to the future and beyond! long live SH and Miquette.
Steven is awesome. I loved his Fire and Water CD. He does not tour over here in US. He would have been a great headliner here in Detroit for the DEMF. Sigh. Green, Fish Rising, L, all incredible work.
I loved Hillage and Gong of course back in the seventies. Its so nice to know that he's still going strong and making music 30 years later. Feed your head (and mine) Steve.
@mstubbs64 I also am that kid. Though I also got made fun of for liking a bunch of 'Kraut Weirdos'. those 'Kraut Wierdos' were a small band called 'Kraftwerk'. Funny how many of those piss-taker now claim to have spotted Kraftwerk's potential so many years ago.
I was in awe of this man in 1978 and so I am still 30 years later. What fantastic creative imagination the guy has.......keep on doing it Steve and Miquette
amazing album. if you needed to be converted to techno, s7 are the way foreward. Encantado is rude, but you should check out Live Transmissions (harder, live album, a bit like this).
thanks for putting this video up. its giving me goosebumps. saw them loads of times. fuck glasto, glade is cooler.
Been wondering what Steve Hillfish has been up to for years... until I found this vid (with a bit of help from tpatgod)! The man is still cool... and the bonus is... I discovered Miquette Giraudy (someone I also admire) has been working with Steve Hillage on System 7! Double Wow!! :-)
The track is "Planet7" from the album Encantado, a righteous track to be sure, but not even the best track on the album, IMO. The whole album is just phenomenal and a holistic experience.
True pioneers of real dance music! We are inundated with so much crappy music, it makes you appreciate the fact that there are still musicians out there keepin' it real!
Cool! Yeah, I appreciate 777 more when I see Steve at work.Any additional Hillage sightings would be greatly appreciated! Who is sitting on fat footage of the recent Hillage Band/ Gong reunion ?
FUCK YEAH!
