@UnCaleb Well it is possible to survive a fragmentation grenade if you lie down. The concussion blast would be the only thing you would have to survive since the majority of the heat and energy of the explosion would go in an upward mostion since it would ricochet off the ground and go up. Finally, the fragmentation of the blast goes mainly upward so you could possibly survive that as well if you are prone.

Poorly calculated bullet drop and a large map that isn't used to any great extent does not constitute realism. Sure it might be realistic compared to COD, but that is like saying dog shit is gourmet food when you can only compare it to starvation.

Because if it is realistic combat you want, there is simply no comparison. There are good reasons why it has a larger percentage of active and former military personell playing it than any other game out there. It is going to take a huge effort to take the milsim title from arma, Codemasters have the money, but not the innovation, creativity or understanding.

A bullet CAN be lethal, just as much as a knife acn be lethal, but were not talking about lethality, or atleast i wasn't ORIGINALLY talking about lethality, i was talking about stopping power. Rifles are built for penetration, this is easily noticeable as a pistol round typically has much more stopping powering then a rifle round. LERN IT FAGIT.

@flamegamereview No mix up, I played this game and felt ripped-off by all the 'realism' bullshit that they were talking about that was non-existent in the final product. Poorly calculated bullet drop and a large map that isn't used to any great extent does not constitute realism. Sure it might be realistic compared to COD, but that is like saying dog shit is gourmet food when you can only compare it to starvation.

@flamegamereview Have you given ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead, a proper playthrough? Especially online on a good realism server. Because if it is realistic combat you want, there is simply no comparison. There are good reasons why it has a larger percentage of active and former military personell playing it than any other game out there. It is going to take a huge effort to take the milsim title from arma, Codemasters have the money, but not the innovation, creativity or understanding.

@S2audicoupeS2 Actually because games like Arma have too many options to be put on consoles...yeah. It has nothing to do with complexity. And as for casual, it's because being easily accessible and appealing is what sells. Cause if I am right the PC sales for MW2 > Arma 2.

well said, i prefer MILSIM style games such as the Original Operation Flashpoint and Armed Assault games over the fabricated FPS games that hit shelves like a pile of cancer. Arma 2 and such may not sell as many copies, but the quality is definately miles better than something such as COD or Halo, also, i dont think BIS makes a whole pile of copies of their games when they release a new title, so theres that.

@bgibson26 i agree, whenever i play games like Operation Flashpoint Resistance, Dragon Rising and soon (fingers crossed) ArmA 2, i hate having Rambos with me. if you're not a team player, dont even ask to play with me. i cant stand glorified children of the rambo mindset, its irritating. nobody wins a war by themself, teamwork, strategy and brotherhood is what gets the job done. good weapons would certainly help though.

The reason it doesn't sell as well as MW2 is because it wasn't advertised as much, it hasn't been around as long, thusly hasn't had the time to get a lot of popularity and because easily accessible games DO sell better than game that aren't so easily accessible.

@bgibson26 not true the game didnt sell well because of one reason. no dedicated servers. that pretty much ruined it. unless u just played co-op with a few of your buddies the pings were unbearable. besides that there was no reason to buy it since it required no cd key. a pirated version and store bought version had no difference. thankfully the creators of arma bought it and are redoing it.

@SpraxIAKS I have to agree more people would play modern warfare 2 due to its simplicity, however im just stating it IS a rehashed game of CoD: 4 with half the content. I tried the demo of ARMA 2 and I must say its much more complex, proving some peoples point that really realistic games arent as fun as less realistic ones. No one should port ARMA 2 on consoles, it has way too many buttons and its complexity level is over the fucking charts. Bottom line: No one likes over realistic games.

The mainproblem is not that the Casual-consoleros like this way. the main problem is that the devs more and more delete content like Dedicated Servers, working MP modes, Working MP Lobbys, movement abilitys like leaning and prowning and content of the game you have to pay for after you bought the game!

@S2audicoupeS2 also DLC is a way of keeping the game alive after release many console games have dedicated servers as long as the developers have money to support it. I have an alienware computer and i love it and the games that are on it so atleast try and realise that PC and consoles are in many ways alike than they are different.
