  • I love Dove Crag

  • Similar type of experience staying up at sleddale hall near Shapbut with a nice fire and a roof that doesnt leak..

  • Was that cave used by priests as hole to hide from prosecution?. Great adventure, thanks.

  • I think it was to do with the Quaker movement. Quaker priests being persecuted. So, yes...thats the traditional story anyway

  • @miguelillosan It was probably named after the Reformation era. Seeing as houses with priest holes were definately used for the purpose of hiding catholic priests while Henry VIII set out to destroy them, I would think these caves were also places they would run to and hide from the C of E.

  • i've slept their (:

it was amzing when the mist down. i walked from brothers water and stopped and the river down the hill for the huge boulder. we stayed in priests hole on the 24th/6/09

  • Not a lot, really. About 5-7kg's. It did include kit for wild camping, too. The night sent in the cave was part of a 3 say trip

  • Great location how much does your pack weigh for this trip?
