@miguelillosan It was probably named after the Reformation era. Seeing as houses with priest holes were definately used for the purpose of hiding catholic priests while Henry VIII set out to destroy them, I would think these caves were also places they would run to and hide from the C of E.
it was amzing when the mist down. i walked from brothers water and stopped and the river down the hill for the huge boulder. we stayed in priests hole on the 24th/6/09

Similar type of experience staying up at sleddale hall near Shapbut with a nice fire and a roof that doesnt leak..

I think it was to do with the Quaker movement. Quaker priests being persecuted. So, yes...thats the traditional story anyway

Not a lot, really. About 5-7kg's. It did include kit for wild camping, too. The night sent in the cave was part of a 3 say trip
