Steven, I admire your mission and have no real ax to grind...however, my comment was limited to the digital divide in this country and that it is a big issue in many places. Keep doing what you do and maybe we can all work toward a country where opportunity and resources are readily available to all at little or no cost. A pipe dream, perhaps...

You are right, Chris. If we broaden this discussion to the international, it is even more true. There are billions of people in this world living without access to clean water or electricity or a doctor.
I don't think I can/should give up the work I do to solve those problems. All I can do is work in the place/situation I'm at, and for me, that means how to make better use of the technologies they do have access to to teach writing. It's a tiny mission, but it's the mission I have.

I like the video, but I think the argument here is wrong. There are plenty of opportunities/resources for folks to access technology and learn about design. Ironically, I think this video is an example of how a simple use of technology can be extremely effective in terms of a message and a design.

I don't think the argument is wrong at all. The 'digital divide' is a serious problem that cannot be easily brushed aside. Take a tour of impoverished areas around the country and you will find thousands of bright students in every region with little or no means to advance their education. Opportunities and resources for technology use are severely limited on so many levels.
