  • My God she was beautuful, sexy, in the 60's and 70's. To me she was the "Queen of Folk", and that voice,.....So powerful and melodic, the way she moved to the beat of all the songs, She was the Perfect fit for Noel and Peter...I loved her a lot and miss her as do so many.... What a spirit of beauty and great courage... So Long My Love, Ill see you soon

  • My uncle had the SAME procedure & although I give thanks for new technology, he also died the SAME way....truly heartbreaking. My Uncle died within a few months. I really thought Mary had true success coming her way as it was years before she succombed to Chemo. My uncle just couldn't eat after all the Chemo, hence his body couldn't fight with no nutrition. I don't understand why didn't BEAT it, I just wish I knew more of what the Chemo did to her demise. Maybe technology isn't ready 4 us.

  • If we can have the love, courage, and drive to work for love, peace, justice, and kindness as she and Peter & Paul have done then we will have honored her memory and all that she had believed and worked for. Let us remember that humanity as well as you matter.

  • Patty. Oh yeah, she had an awesome sense of humour. I've never been to a concert but the concert footage I've seen showed evidence. "People used used to ask me, 'which one are you married to?' And I'd say 'neither, or it wouldn't have lasted this long.. They'd say 'no no. Which one?' You'd think I'd know!"

  • I never knew she had that kind of terrific sense of humor! Man! It makes me miss her all the more!!!!! RIP Mary! We love you and will Never Ever forget you! You are quite the role model for us and our children!

  • I can't believe it's been 1 year since she's been gone :( I saw her April 2009, and she was in a wheelchair then. She talked to us too about her illness. Her voice was still VERY strong though :) Had us all singing, clapping;stomping our feet & crying too.:/

  • She was a true friend to everyone.

  • What an inspiration......If we could be half as gracious and intelligent as this unbelievable woman was

  • The problem with the Far Right Wing Nuts of the Republican Party is that they do not cherish human life, except for blastocytes and foetuses. Other forms of human life can be killed by the state, medical research can be denied and the poor and homeless are tossed aside like trash. Human life all human life has value, whether grown or not. We are all one, this is the fight of the ages. No one should be denied health care or a decent place to live based. It's time we started cherishing.

  • ... an insight to the person and ... and the sense of humor ... and the intelligence .... ohhhhhhhhhhhhh and not forgetting a lil ol left-wing dig at the President ... gooooooooooo Mary

  • What a courageous woman.

  • she knew she was going to die..thats sad but at the same time she was happy and funny..she was a very happy women and she didnt let her little time she had left here bring her down..she was brave and ready to go..she left sooo many good music behind with peter and paul and her music her voice and her melody was beutifull

  • Both types of stem-cell treatments and research are vital medical tools for developing many treatments for many disease and injury processes. President Bush was an Idiot and so are all the idiotic knowledge deprived Christians who harp on about how wonderful life is while simultaneously condemning millions to die because of their pig-headed ignorance on such topics.

It is time we stopped paying attention to these Bible-pounding morons and have a little respect for human life.

  • @lizichell Could not have said it better.

  • @neruda14 Bush did not outlaw stem cell research, he denied federal funding of it. To date not a single medical breakthrough has been developed in all the independent labs of the world. Cord blood holds as much promise and is readily available.

The hype is greater than the reality. And this is posted by a medical doctor.

  • I just hope I meet you up with you up there

  • god bless her she suffered so and she gave us so much Peter Paul @ Mary gave us so much, I was a young child when Puff came out and that song got me thru some nightmares i'd have and my mom would sing it and that song captured my imagination, i could see in my mind what Honalee and puff and jackie looked like, and it comforted me. I've had the pleasure of meeting Peter Yarrow at my former Boss's ranch at least twice, what a gracious man he is to volunteer for my boss's campaign. R.I.P. Mary XOX

  • she already knew she was gonna go :(

  • Mary was the greatest. Her courage and humour are an inspiration.

    A wonderful and brilliant woman.

  • My sweet mother died on January 4th, 2005 @ 2:15 PM CST of Leukemia.

She had Chemo but it could not help her. I was with her when she died. So I do know how Mary Travers family and personal friends feel. RIP Mary. You and Peter and Paul brought me such joy with Puff The Magic Dragon as a child in the 60's & 70's. You will be missed.

  • Thank you so much for this. It is a historic document alright. Her courage is part of her legacy, as is her music, all of which will last through the ages.

  • Thank you sooo much for this.

  • DOES SHE STILL SING, ID SEE HER

  • No, she passed away 5 months ago.

  • From Mary's website, it seems the bone marrow transplant was successful, but there were complications from a chemotherapy treatment.

Mary Rest in Peace and God Bless

  • what a great woman laughing in the face of tragedy she really knew how to live!!

  • @ZEITGEISTism I wish I knew at the time. I didn't know. I just didn't know. I learned the day she died.

Thank you so much for posting this.

  • @UglySean

No need to beat yourself up She was a woman of integrity ( a true artist!) she didn't want everyone "to know" her private condition that was for her and her nearest and dearest to know (and you and me to find out ..too late )

    ps

    such is life !

  • ...and heartbreaking.
