I adopted a 2 year old boy lab, and my roomie adopted a 4 month old mix kitten.. they play like that too, she waits for him to be by the coffee table wagging his tail and will pounce and gnaw on his tail. He's 80 pounds and she's only 8, but they do so well together.. even take turns chasing the laser pointer :)

That's what I tend to think too. At least they would learn to live together. But that's not the case always. Especially cats have very strong character already as kittens and some of them will never learn to like dogs. By the way, I have seen pictures even of cat and mouse, cat and bird being friends.

@sippala Actually It's not necessary. If dog dog lives his/hers few first months with cats and does OK then the dog will probably accept any cat later on. At least our dog did. When it was her first birthday we took a cat and few days they quarreled but on the fourth day they ate together.

Yes, and not only one chicken but right next to the spot, where they are playing, there is a chicken pen with 2 gorgeous roosters and about 10 hens.  Bluey dog really loves to look at chicken. She never harms them but wants to look after them.

The little dog, Maxi (mix of Dachshund and Australian terrier) was our neighbours dog who visited us often and finally decided to join our family. He was originally a rescue dog, from a family where he was bullied a lot, so he never learnt to play. His greatest fun was to kill our chicken whenever he could. Anyway he was a cute boy. We lost him in 2005.
