Kyogre is often considered more powerful than Groudon and is more used than Rayquaza because he actually makes full use of its weather, whereas Rayquaza just stops weather and Groudon doesn't have moves which work with his weather. There is a reason Kyogre is the king of Ubers (and the most used) and is often considered one of the strongest Pokemon (although Arceus and Mewtwo give it competition for that title.

@archertrio Ok, lets assume that Groudon was ev trained in sp atk as well as causing drought to activate over Kyogre's drizzle as well as having a higher speed. Even then it would only do 56.1% - 66.1% to an offensive choice specs Kyogre. Lets look at it the other way now and assume Kyogre had the advantage with drizzle and choice specson a defensive groudon, then it would do 390.1% - 459.6%. Do you want to know why? Its because Groudon has 100 sp. atk while Kyogre has 150 sp. atk + 140 sp def.

Sure, an outrage from Rayquaza may have the chance of OHKO'ing Kyogre, but you have to take in a couple of factors. Most of Groudons moves which benefit from the sun, such as Eruption and Solarbeam, are special, and

Groudon is quite lacking in sp atk at least in Uber standards. Kyogre on the other hand, is specially oriented and his rain boosts water spout and gives him an 100% accurate thunder

My old way of catching the legends, get down to 1 hp and use math do calculate how many times to use splash before throwing a timer ball. Now i have a life tho XD
