Also, just some tips on making the mask : You should be able to find the tights at wal-mart, it's where I bought em. One pair black, one pair opaque white. Biggest size is best. Some markers total cost about 12 dollars. For the tracing on paper, I have a glass coffee table that I put a lamp under, making a near perfect tracing table. I recommend the 2 liter bottle as it's easy to hold while tracing, but afterwards, stretch it over something larger for a better fit. I used a milk gallon.

Dude, after searching through countless videos thinking I would never find a way to make a decent Rorschach mask, I found your video, follwed your instructions making some slight tweaks here and there, and now I have a freaking amazing looking Rorschach costume, and I can say that with only a little ego. get the opaque ones.

since you have 2 legs, cut one, for the second layer

then the mask.

so in order, black, left or right leg of the opaque tights, then the mask.

You might get high from the sharpie if you use it in the first two day. But the smell will go off if you dont use it in like first 1-2 days of the making. Might help washing the thing, but then there is the risk of the inkblot spreading and ruining your mask, happened to me, didn't use a sharpie tho.

The "moving" ones are expensive to make. $45 for the paint. I'd buy it if I had more than 1 use for the paint. Not worth it, imo.

Was thinking of how to make one for a Rorschach fancy dress party costume and found this. Well done mate, nice one.

Just wondering if it's worth using black dye instead of a solvent based pen as used, so to avoid noxious fumes and possible skin reactions? More hassle, but more durable, and surely safer :)

Other than that, good technique.

Last suggestion, use a pic of Rorschach from the actual comic material, there are 100s of designs to choose from +actual Rorschach cards ;)

They made the mask in the movie out of Lycra but did some paint effects to it to give a different looking texture. That's probably expensive, not the Lycra though.

i think the alien ending would have been over budget or far fetched. but the films ending worked alright if you think about it. the world knows dr.manhattans powers and he was already accused of spreading cancer. so its as bad as it seems. and yeah i read the comic first and i luved the movie. alot of who didnt like it, they never even heard of the comic.

He had the Hollis Mason being murdered in it but, he didn't want to cut anything from the movie that was in the book. Unfortunately the people who have more control tell you to shorten movies all the damn time... that (and extra DVD releases = more profits) is why director's cuts exist...

The man wanted to leave small quite meaningless details in for craps sake lol. Hollis Mason's murder was deemed not necessary to the movie and it allowed 8 minutes to be saved.

Your gonna spend like under 8 bucks for like 2-3 pairs. Target/walmart is your best bet. Even JC Penney.
