Audi chose to make it sounds like that, they could of easily unleashed the real sound of the 1.8t but instead they chose to use resonated and muffled exhausts to hide it. On the TT-RS they chose to give it a quality exhaust that reflected the sound of teh car.

I generally like German cars but they're certainly NOT the be all and end all - Lotus, Jaguar, Chevrolet, Ford, Nissan, Lexus etc all provide alternatives that are as good if not better than some of their German counterparts. For example, the new Jaguar XFR, or the Nissan GTR, Chevrolet Corvette etc etc.

No everything will squeal at a certain extent, it's physics. But it just sounds (and I could be wrong as it's a video and it's not the real thing) that even the high speed corners the squealing is there. And squealing might indicate a lack of grip I'm note sure

The only thing the corvette does is accelerating, it handles like a POS, the hood is like more than half the car, does not corner at all and once you get smaller than usual street you're dead.

The upcoming audi RS3 will be my next car, it gets the same engine than this one and I like the design more. I almost pulled the trigger for an M3 last year, but man I'm sure glad I waited. The 5-cyl inline turbo engine is gonna be a blast and just wait until aftermarket starts picking up, getting them to 400-450hp will not be that hard. Audi is really kicking some serious ass, their new line is the s**t

In this case you are right, those 2 cars cant be compared with each other, because they are made for different purposes. The audi is, like i already said, a high quality car, wich is quite fast, but although suited to daily use. The corvette is a low price car which is made to be fast, nothing else. And there are many cars from germany that are faster than a corvette. just search at youtube :-) AND: please get yourself some education, nazideuschland is history.

If you have not expierienced the interieur and the feeling of sitting in an audi with 340 hp out of an inline 5 cylinder Turbo, you cant talk about it. its unique. compared to an audi, a corvette is a crappy piece of plastic, whether its faster or not. Dude, it has i sequential, bi-turbo, straight, five-cylinder engine! It gives 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque! And it is not the Rabbits five-cylinder. To make it fit, they had to make a new block with small diameter cylinders. Still they tested a version with more than 500 hp, and there where no signs of stress:) Now, the only ting to do is to toss the V6 T (Kompressor that is...) out, and fit this in the A4! THAT would be awesome! It would take some converting from transverse to longitudinal...

echte ironie...von der guten alten VEP über PC zu common rail, fünfzylinder damals verbannt u diese beschissenen 4 zylinder mit pd eigeführt u jetzt plötzlich kommt man drauf, dass eig ein 5 zylinder besser wäre - was auch stimmt. sparsamkeit eines 4 zylinders u kraft von 6, läuft mehr als 300.000km ohne probleme wie ein uhrwerk. dagegen kommen 4 heferl nicht an. bleibt zu hoffen, dass es bald wieder einen TDI mit 5 heferl gibt.
