@studioolympe Not that I am arguing with you, but the Editing was a little deceptive, they actually were fighting (firing and receiving attacks). During their transmission that the federation station intercepted the ships was visibly taking multiple hits.
@TiberiusKardem To me it was the bad transmission due to V'ger anger, but maybe. Surprising that it could be attacks, as a single blow from V'ger let no ship at all on Klingons vessels unlike the Enterprise later : it's 0/1, exists or destroys at each torpedo.
You're right : the editing isn't clear enough, still, they shot first which is a strange manner to meet people at a first encounter. Then, ran as fast (ahaha) as they could.
@studioolympe No, the Klingons were definitely being attacked repeatedly. There was no "bad transmission" The Klingons were getting tossed about their bridge.
Without a doubt one of the best music scores. It has every thing Suspence ,Thrill calmness and crescendo.....only a few composers have this gift .. Jerry you are the man .........
Hi! Ah, no visual distractions, just the enjoyment of the music! Ahem! I'd like it if someone would make a video with the end credits for "In Harm's Way", another movie scored by Jerry Goldsmith, and then have it segue into the "Klingon Battle" music. Visuals would be nice too, as the scenes shift from the atomic blasts to the V'Ger Encounter, but not required. Maybe toss in a bit of "Planet of the Apes" where applicable? Thanks for this treat!
@StuartTheGamerNerd - Copyright issues, CBS won't let them, or it is tangled in some weird web of copyright owners - it's a wonderful theme though - I'd love to see it used in STO, but I doubt that will happen. It is so associated with Klingons though it's hard to write another theme that would be as well fitting as this theme.
@ElleRoni That is a probably a blaster beam - invented by Craig Huxley - used by Jerry Goldsmith in TMP, and James Horner in Star Trek II, and Star Trek III. Also the Jupiter was a popular synth used for a lot of other electronic effects and both were actually written as part of the score.
It's from an official release of the soundtrack. This theme, for some reason, had crappy sound effects added to it on that release. subsequent releases were true to the score.
I think this is actually that version you mentioned. I have a recording of this version somewhere as well. Didn't like it as much as the original, but not too bad really.
bah the fed and the klingons have more of an alliance towards the end of star trek, this is because they both have the same mortal enemies Romulans and the borg, sorry for grammar
Did the Romulans ever have a theme like this? The Klingons had atleast one other from the movie The Search For Spock, but I don't remember anyone else (Romulans, Cardassians) having their own theme song. Anyone know if I'm wrong and if so, where can I find these other themes?
Its possible that its the Telarc Digital version, done by an orchestra and not the original. I'd check, only my younger brother "borrowed" my cd years ago.
This is a pretty astonishing piece of music. Goldsmith was a master when it came to the integration of traditional orchestral sounds with non-traditional and electronic instruments. I'd say that his greatest output ran between his Planet of the Apes score and his Total Recall score - both also masterpieces.
I love the melody recurring in First Contact when Worf is on the Enterprise! ( see ST 8 Soundtrack, track Red Alert from 0.43 to 1.07 ... great soundtrack too ! Goldsmith is the best. )

Jerry Goldsmith's work is so evocative - This makes you want be a Klingon, and The 13th Warrior score makes you want to be a Viking.

Good focused to theme music. You almost do not need to see the movie to depictr the action that your mind sees when you hear this.

did you remix this slightly to have some metal overtones.
