I always wanted to ask the Goreites, what is the optimum temperature profile for earth? For the last 50,000 years the profile has been fairly stable but before that it varied wildly, the Goreites own people verify that.That chart Al shows starts in the middle of the last little ice age and does not show the higher temps prior.Since 1998 avg temps have fallen not risen, the sun variations have more to do with earth warming than humans.

The higher temperatures prior would be highly undesirable when they returned. The earth and life on it will survive but it is questionable how and whether mankind would fit in. If these temperatures return then prepare for a mess on an unprecedented scale.

From a history standpoint I would disagree with you.Take the vikings for example,they had colonies on Greenland when it was really green and North America.When the ice age came,greenland froze over and cut off the North American colonies which meant they did not have the numbers to hold off the Skraelings,the Vikings retreated to Europe.I also recall reading how well the Romans did in these higher temps.

The last "little ice age" I believe lasted from around 1300 to about 1850. There have been many cold years since but this is the time acknowledged by the "experts".Remember Napoleon and his failure at Moscow,the coldest winter even the Russians remember.The vikings colonized greenland about 900 AD when is was green enough for farms and sheep to exist,it turns out they did not like fish and left when it was too cold for sheep.
