I put in a disk into the disk drive then it starts playing by itself. I try to shut it off, then it just freezes. I bang up the computer and it makes the annoying beep 6 times and it's still paused. So I try to shut off the power doesn't fucking work, I couldn't unplug the damn thing, it was a laptop, so I had to fish out the battery and pull open the disk drive.

Macs dont get that many viruses... If I open an Email with my pc I get viruses that costs ALOT more to get rid of than Mac viruses... I hate PCs, unless your a gamer get a Mac

You're mistaking security (which a Mac most certainly has LITTLE of) for OBSCURITY (which is the main reason a Mac (or Linux Distro's for that matter) wont get a virus).
Macs are 15% of the US computer Market, and that's mostly college idiots. They are 5% of the total GLOBAL computer market.
Windows is 85% and 95%, respectively.
Now tell me, why would someone make a virus for only 5% of all computers?

Squeak smalltalk is basically a smalltalk workstation emulator. google for it and download one of the really old versions and make up your minds (the newer ones are very "native" in their GUIs but the oldest versions were very vintage XEROX PARC)

I overclocked the CPU in my custom built PC rig to 4.0GHz. That's 50% faster, and it didn't cost me but the price of a new cooler ($90). Good luck doing that on a Mac. That is, if you can. Even if you could, Macs have hardly any airflow in their chassis and no room to add a more efficient cooler. The chip would fry. PC is better. I'm not just stating my opinion. It's a fact. Numbers don't lie. Sorry Mac users. :-/

@1atrani Actually I have plenty of experience with Macs. I got the first aluminum chassis iMac they came out with some years ago, but that's beside the point. Just because only people with money can afford them doesn't mean they're a superior product. @principio25 Uh...Are you going to give any evidence to support that? Maybe some reasoning? Because to me they are very different. Microsoft programs run much faster, seeing as c++ kicks objective-C's ass, and supports many more games and utilities. Windows looks different, Windows functions differently, and Windows is cheaper. The only thing better about a mac is editing, which is not even close to as good as Sony Vegas is.

But if you step back a bit the systems are almost identical. Say what you like about C++... the fact is Windows shamelessly copied the graphical user interface first popularized by the Mac: a mouse that moves a pointer across a bitmap screen, with folder icons and drop down menus, down to the File/Edit/View headers. No difference..

Computers were popular before Apple, and apple went into the same market as IBM and copied many things about it. Who cares if it closer resemble Xerox, they copied IBM as well. It's one thing for two computers to have UI's, it's quite another for the UI's to be nearly identical, so that if you can use a Mac you can basically use a PC. That's really not the case when you compare, say, Windows versus DOS. Apple uses a very particular Graphical User Interface (GUI) - why can't windows use a different GUI? There are others, you know..

It had NO spreadsheet application – the killer app that brought PC's to homes and businesses -- just a basic table/graph feature in the word processor (no cell formulas). Apple Lisa gave the system legs, and made a huge improvement on the GUI by introducing the now universal "File/ Edit/ View" menus. Windows did no such thing..that's called shameless copying.

So many people don't know that Macs are simply a type of PC. They even have the same parts. Apple just charges more for a fancy case. A lot more. Oh, the parts are slightly different. Not upgraded, no. They're just different enough to be proprietary, so that you have to purchase all your upgrades through Apple.
I could literally build my own brand new Mac, with their OS and everything, for half the price Apple charges.

All for....$900...Comparable alienware costs over 2k. The mac in that category starts at 2500 and has worse hardware. What a joke
@srwilli4m I bought my computer 2 years ago with OS + iLife all for $750. It's a Mac Mini and that thing has the lowest airflow in any computer I'd ever seen anywhere you can't literally tell if it's on or off because it's so damn quite. It's way faster then Windows with 3GHz I7 and 8 GB ram, you have to reformat windows every 6 months because it get's so slow because of horrible uninstall proprietary. I can play 3 1080p x264 videos without lag. I'd say it's way ahead of its time thanks to OS X.

I don't get what the fuck the war is about. Most people that say the other OS sucks have never used the other type of computer. They just say there computer rocks because it is theirs. I for one am really good with computers and own a PC desktop and a Macbook Pro (laptop). The PC is good for software programs, gaming, hooking up to external drives etc. Mac is good for organization, editing (I believe Mac editing overpowers PC) and is safer, because there is not access to the drives of the comp.

If you really want to run a mac's software then just make a Hackinstosh, the actual parts and components have no difference besides the price. So build a good computer with all the parts you want and then install a mac operating system. (although once you've bothered to learn how to put together a computer you've probably gained enough intelligence that you'll want to put it to good use, so install your favourite linux build and dual boot it with windows 7)
Next year I need a computer for running advanced audio programs, I was considering a mac until I realised. I could build a pc twice as powerful for a fraction of the price. Its good apple, but not good enough to justify all that cash, sorry!

You're mistaking security (which a Mac most certainly has LITTLE of) for OBSCURITY (which is the main reason a Mac (or Linux Distro's for that matter) wont get a virus).
Macs are 15% of the US computer Market, and that's mostly college idiots. They are 5% of the total GLOBAL computer market.
Windows is 85% and 95%, respectively.
Now tell me, why would someone make a virus for only 5% of all computers?
Answer: They wouldn't.

I overclocked the CPU in my custom built PC rig to 4.0GHz. That's 50% faster, and it didn't cost me but the price of a new cooler ($90). Good luck doing that on a Mac. That is, if you can. Even if you could, Macs have hardly any airflow in their chassis and no room to add a more efficient cooler. The chip would fry. PC is better. I'm not just stating my opinion. It's a fact. Numbers don't lie. Sorry Mac users. :-/

@1atrani Actually I have plenty of experience with Macs. I got the first aluminum chassis iMac they came out with some years ago, but that's beside the point. Just because only people with money can afford them doesn't mean they're a superior product. All that means is that some people are gullible when they see something clean cut, shiny, and looks hip, but is really just vanity. It is the equivalent of a gold toilet seat.

@principio25 Uh...Are you going to give any evidence to support that? Maybe some reasoning? Because to me they are very different. Microsoft programs run much faster, seeing as c++ kicks objective-C's ass, and supports many more games and utilities. Windows looks different, Windows functions differently, and Windows is cheaper. The only thing better about a mac is editing, which is not even close to as good as Sony Vegas is.

But if you step back a bit the systems are almost identical. Say what you like about C++... the fact is Windows shamelessly copied the graphical user interface first popularized by the Mac: a mouse that moves a pointer across a bitmap screen, with folder icons and drop down menus, down to the File/Edit/View headers. No difference..

Apple was the first to successfully deploy the UI in a consumer market. What Apple did required much more imagination and restructuring than what Windows did. Copying is ok with me, what's not ok is doing it unimaginatively and shamelessly, and in the same market as those you copy from...

Computers were popular before Apple, and apple went into the same market as IBM and copied many things about it. Who cares if it closer resemble Xerox, they copied IBM as well. I, for one am glad that both of them copied because if they didn't, we might not be where we are today. If I were you, I would just stop responding, as you make all of us hate Macs a little bit more.

It's one thing for two computers to have UI's, it's quite another for the UI's to be nearly identical, so that if you can use a Mac you can basically use a PC. That's really not the case when you compare, say, Windows versus DOS. Apple uses a very particular Graphical User Interface (GUI) - why can't windows use a different GUI? There are others, you know..

The first Mac did actual computing – spreadsheets, charts, models. A Mac user couldn't work on a Xerox Star without training. Can't say that for Windows...

It had NO spreadsheet application – the killer app that brought PC's to homes and businesses -- just a basic table/graph feature in the word processor (no cell formulas). It's NOT a PC: it just formats/prints what's on screen, and sends email. Apple Lisa gave the system legs, and made a huge improvement on the GUI by introducing the now universal "File/ Edit/ View" menus. Windows did no such thing..that's called shameless copying.

Mac vs PC is a myth started by Apple's advertising department.
So many people don't know that Macs are simply a type of PC. They even have the same parts. Apple just charges more for a fancy case. A lot more. Oh, the parts are slightly different. Not upgraded, no. They're just different enough to be proprietary, so that you have to purchase all your upgrades through Apple.
I could literally build my own brand new Mac, with their OS and everything, for half the price Apple charges.

Nope that's pretty good for a price wouldn't you say? I owned PC for at least 7 years and after windows XP it went downhill. If it kept that fast and easy OS but with new improvements without shitty 3rd party softwares I'd still would be with PC. I hope that shuts your arrogant brain.

All for....$900...Comparable alienware costs over 2k. The mac in that category starts at 2500 and has worse hardware. What a joke

@srwilli4m I bought my computer 2 years ago with OS + iLife all for $750. It's a Mac Mini and that thing has the lowest airflow in any computer I'd ever seen anywhere you can't literally tell if it's on or off because it's so damn quite. It's way faster then Windows with 3GHz I7 and 8 GB ram, you have to reformat windows every 6 months because it get's so slow because of horrible uninstall proprietary. I can play 3 1080p x264 videos without lag. I'd say it's way ahead of its time thanks to OS X.

I have both PC types, mac and windows, They're both great, and I personally love windows much better, there is more freedom to do what you want, more software, and just to clear up the bullshit about no mac viruses, i've had a virus on mac, so stfu. Its just that not very many people will aim at macs since they have a smaller fan base.

I don't get what the fuck the war is about. Most people that say the other OS sucks have never used the other type of computer. They just say there computer rocks because it is theirs. I for one am really good with computers and own a PC desktop and a Macbook Pro (laptop). The PC is good for software programs, gaming, hooking up to external drives etc. Mac is good for organization, editing (I believe Mac editing overpowers PC) and is safer, because there is not access to the drives of the comp.

They came out late 2006, before Vista was actually released and the commercial era ended on October 22, 2009, just after Windows 7 came out and after people upgraded their computers to Windows 7; however, almost 50% of PC users are using Windows XP, ~28% Windows 7, 0.08% Windows 98 (lol)

You people need to realize that only the stupid ppl gets viruses. I haven't used any kind of firewall / antivirus for over 4 years now, and I haven't had any viruses. PC is also ALOT cheaper, and you can tune your PC, unlike ur Mac. The "Mac has all the professional and better software" is old and false arguement today. So if PC is Cheaper, more powerful, has as good software as Mac today, and is better to use (imo) and u can play with PC , so why should I buy a mac?

@waakka I'm pro pc, but you're an idiot. The reason you don't get any viruses/trojans/spyware because you don't see them. Guess why? Because you don't have a firewall or anti virus to detect them. Either that or all you do is use MS Word, like my mum.
Though the reason Mac computers have so few viruses is because no one bothers to make them because there are far fewer Mac users. So its not really about how good ones security software is or isnt.

@waakka I agree that macs are overpriced but I've seen pc's with worse specs then my 1199$macbook pro in terms of processing and GPU and they cost 1499$. Plus many people go for the 1299$ macbook so they don't end up spending too much money. Mac does come with professional software and they can run windows so yes they can play every game and use any software. I'm not saying PC's suck and you should by the mac tho.

@Newyorknack101 Alienware is a pc. Furthermore, alienware computers are known for being overpriced and of crappy quality since Dell took over. Additionally, who the fuck needs 16 gb of ram? You certainly don't need that kind of ram to game. Currently 4 gb of ram is really all you need to game. All I am going to say is that people that buy alienware computers are about as smart as people that buy macs. PC gamers should build their own gaming computers since it is so fucking easy.

I love how they portray the cool guy as the macintosh user... in real life the people with a mac are huge nerds who are more worried about the new $100 software that steve jobs shits out of his asshole, than getting some fresh air. If you really want to run a mac's software then just make a Hackinstosh, the actual parts and components have no difference besides the price. So build a good computer with all the parts you want and then install a mac operating system. (although once you've bothered to learn how to put together a computer you've probably gained enough intelligence that you'll want to put it to good use, so install your favourite linux build and dual boot it with windows 7)

Next year I need a computer for running advanced audio programs, I was considering a mac until I realised. I could build a pc twice as powerful for a fraction of the price. Its good apple, but not good enough to justify all that cash, sorry!

It's funny because so many people complain that apple products are too expensive when in reality if you know who to buy from it is way more cheaper then Windows. Why get OS X rather then Windows? Well, that's easy. Fact: OS X is more editor friendly while PC is 3rd party developers = not so stable and tends to crash often.

@HQbreach You can get any computer with a lot of programs. The only difference is that you have to pay 200 bucks for every software add-on for a Mac. It isn't nearly as much for a PC.

Not to mention, Macs use the same parts as PCs but are 2-3x more expensive and the OS can only be installed on a Mac (not including hackint0shes)
