That was very bad policy, giving morgages to people without the ability to pay. They did those people no real favors & that started a financial chain reaction of bad moves. Democrats in the House and Senate argued fiercely against lRepublicans suggestions that FM & FM needed to be regulated. Those debates are also on youtube.
