@jellydee123 Its great that you are sensative to what's happening in your body as you tap. I don't judge what happens as I tap; I'm curious and just noticed from a detached point of view. There is no 'normal' when it comes to enegy work ;-)
any idea why it might not be working well for me? I don't really notice a difference after. I feel like its a great idea and it works for a lot of people EXCEPT me
@DashofMagical The #1 reason that people don't notice a difference after tapping is that they are being to general. You need to identify a specific example event that relates to the emotion that you are experience and tap around all asects of that event. An event can be identified by who, what, when, where and how long. When you have all those questions answered you know you have an event to work with. Then tap away.
@DashofMagical You may have something called 'reversal'. google it for info - I can't remember the procedure to clear it - but it basically means your system is blocked.
@lovesarita There are two ways that "psychological reversals" are addressed in EFT. One is by tapping on the karate chop point (or by rubbing the sore spot - not shown in this video); the other is by making the reversal itself the focus of a few rounds of tapping e.g. "Even though I keep sabotaging myself when I'm starting to feel better..."
Hi Rod! Thanks for this great info. One question though. How do you use this to help with weight loss? Do I just think about how I looked when I was thin as I tap?
@mewhoshops Would you believe I'm the processing of developing a product for using EFT for weightloss right now. It should be out in the next month or two. In the meantime, see if you can focus on the feelings that you have that drive your to eat even when you are not hungry. Tap on those feelings and you will find that your eating will reduce. You can also do the same for any resistance to exercise.
@mobiusII Most definitely. It's what your focus on while you tap that makes the difference. And you control your focus with the spoken phrases as you tap.
Thank you. This fellow is great. His explanations are clear, direct and fun. Plus he is hot. A feast for the eyes and spirit. Love Australians... Great country and people.
I have a chronic nail biting problem and tried various cbt techniques with good results for a while but then it's like it wears off and I'm back to the biting. I've tried this last night...so far no biting...but I think it works a little like cbt in that I become aware of the precedent thought leading up to the biting, and then self talk with the tapping. It's good in that it hones in on the thought process, which I found difficult to do with cbt. I'll keep at it and see what happens.
@thinkngal I'm gald you are getting results from your first try. With behaviourial habits, such as nail biting, there is the emotional component and then the muscle memory from doing it over and over. EFT works on both of these. Also, its great that you have developed the awareness from CBT to notice the preceding thoughts. Keep me posted on your results.
@StokesGeorge This video is just about a shortcut to use with EFT not about explaining the whole technique. I recommend going the EFT Universe web site and getting the free Getting Started package to learn how to apply the tapping.
@thinkngal Yes, skeptical people benefit from tapping too. There is no belief in anything required for this technique to work. I have used it with lots of skeptics with great results. Genuine skeptics are open to new experience and will judge by the results if somethings works. Cynics, on the other hand, are determined that it won't work - and this just takes a few more rounds of tapping to correct ;-)
@iluvrandomnames Yes can most definitely do the tapping on another person. I know of several massage therapists who incorporate this in their work. Its also great when parents tap on their children to help with stress and bullying of school.
@Shean2010 I have worked with many people with back pain with great success (including myself). Google the words squidoo, eft, back pain and you will find a lens that I wrote with much more detail on using EFT for back pain.
@burninglotus Sexual orientation is not something that needs fixing so no EFT will not help you with not being gay. It will however, help you achieve self-acceptance with who you are and fully embracing this aspect of yourself.
@burninglotus the reason you might be feeling gay is because there is BPA artifiical hormones in the many products that are harming your biochem and stress also spikes estrogen
Woah... I accidentally found this and went along with the vid, mostly just humoring myself really, but at the end, I felt so unbelievably calm, relieved, and relaxed. That was not what I was expecting at all.
Very information and very well done. Thanks for explaining this simply and efficiently. I just discovered the idea of EFT today and wanted something quick to get started. Your video was perfect. Thanks!
what about diet? cutting sugar, salt, meat and adding plenty of celery...lots of work but the outside as well as the inside has to be cleaned? thanks and happy holidays.
@butifarra61 I agree that your biochemistry plays a part in your emotional wellbeing as does our emotions to our physical wellbeing. We need to consider all aspects for holistic view of health. Maintream medicine however has focused almost completely on the biochemical and ignored anything more than basic nutrition and general coping strategies rather than digger deeper and dealing with the core issues.
@ofaiz1 You can most likely use EFT to overcome your fear of riding a bike. Remember the event that lead to you having this fear? Tell the story outloud to someone while doing several rounds of tapping and check in to see if the intensity around the memory fades and if that also reduces your current fear. Check out my video on Tell the Story technique for more info.
@charle81c You can tap as often as you like. The idea is to focus on a specific event that is realted to an emotional issue you are working on and repeat the tapping sequence until there are no more aspects and you can remember the event with zero emotional intensity (on a scale from 0-10). The points where we tap are specific acupressure points so tapping on other points won't work as well.
finally someone who explains everything...good work mate...so many others ramble on and forget we are trying to get the technique and how to value it,..thanks\\
Question for EFT experts: Why do I feel slightly dull-ish after tapping? Let me explain, everytime I seem to tap.. I seem to become much more calm.. but there are times when it gets to a point that I don't really care what is going on around me.. kind of in a 'blah' state. Also, I tend to not react to things as much..eg. laughing at something funny for example... any thoughts?
@iluvivana Maybe you could try tapping on the dullish state e.g. "Even though I feel dull,..." and see what comes up. Sometimes a state such as this is just another layer to clear as you continue to unfold and heal issues
As many thanks as taps for posting this vid, but I gotta ask why stop there? Why not include, for instance, Large Intestine 4, Stomach 36, Gallbladder 34, spleen 6? Why stop at the northern, upper part of the body? Does our personal global south not respond well to tapping...too low to reach?
@reforest4fertility We stop there basically because that's all we need to make it work. The full EFT Basic Recipe includes points on the tips of the fingers as well as those shown in this shortcut method. The idea is to use the minimum that we need to get the job done.
@rodsherwin Yes, it's in the upper body, chest, where anxiety is held, which is the impediment common to most of what EFT is used to address. Just from massaging my forearms I've released, eased much anxiety heaved from my chest. That's why I suggested those points. They're on the foreleg, analogous to the forearm for reaching the deeper seated feelings held in the lower body. The Chinese word for acu point translates as hole (vortical as it is) or a way in to the core.
@reforest4fertility The things that makes EFT so easy to learn and apply by everyone is that you don't have to know which points applies to which emotions. It takes longer to figure that out then it does to tap through the whole lot. When you think about it, there is only one meridan that surfaces 14 times so if you are tapping on one meridian the pulses can move through all of them. The idea is to keep it as simple as possible so as many people as possible can benefit.
I've been practicing for 3 days now and i'm confused about one thing .
it's about the " What to focus on thing " Some say you can focus on several things while tapping and some say you'd better concentrate only on one topic .
@edouardvdv I guess its about breaking down an issues into smaller and smaller aspects. For example, you might start with general anxiety and, in the 1st few rounds of tapping, focus on a couple of different ways in which the anxiety shows up in your life. In the next few rounds, you migh zoom in on a specific situation where you experience the anxiety and then tap on different aspects of the one situation. In the next few rounds, tap on a number of aspects of one of the aspects etc
Thanks so much for the demonstration! I just started with this and was a bit confused and wrong in my tapping. I really hope it will work for chronic pain in my lower back that is driving me crazy for the last 5 years. Thanks again, you were very helpul!
@bangarooo I'm glad my demonstration helped you get the hang of the tapping. You can start out tapping using phrases like "this lower back pain" and see how that goes.
You may also want to explore metaphors around the pain such as:
+ if it had a colour, what colour would it be?
+ If it had a shape, what shape would it be?
+ If it had a texture, how would it feel?
+ even, if it could make a sound what sound would it make?
@rodsherwin Hi, do you mean I should add to "this lower back pain is... red", or is "round" etc...? even has a sound? I would then be screaming!!! Hope you are right and I'm sure you are, I'll try it and see what happens. Thank again! You have been very nice and helpful, I appreciate it.
@bangarooo I ran out of characters to explain properly ;-) You can combine all the words into the reminder phrase that you repeat while tapping on each point e.g. "This blue round rough back pain"
Check out some other advanced approaches by google "squidoo back pain eft" and reading the lens.
@boundlesslife12 Another way you can find the collarbone points is to run your fingers from the outside of the collarbones into the middle until you hit the lumps on either side of the U at the bottom of your throat. Once you hit the lumps, drop down directly below them in to the indentations just there. Everyone's collarbones are spaced differently so try to stay close to either side of the sternum.
If you look at a diagram of the rib cage. Just google image “collar bone, sternum, first rib”.
Just like most EFT practitioners say just below the collar bone and then seem to go to a point after the 1st rib. Some say the collar bone point is Kidney 27 point in acupuncture.
Just image google “Kidney 27”
but this appears to be between the collar bone and first rib after the first rib.
But the point you appear to be tapping on is and inch below the v after the first rib.
The knobbly bone you talk about is part of the first rib tapping after this is after the first rib.
See the link with a picture of the ribcage I left on your profile I can't post a link here.
You and others seem to be tapping at the point of the second arrow which is just after the first rib. I believe feeling the bone from outside this appears as part of the collar bone.
@boundlesslife12 The location is sometimes described as inch down from the v and an inch out on either side. The lumpy bit I mention in the inner edge of the collar bone before it joins the v. Also remember that people's collarbones are at different heights on their chest & also different widths apart so it can look quite different on different people. Keep up just under the collarbone & near to the sternum and you'll be right
As an acupuncturist I find the term energy system inconsistent with the true definition of channels, qi and blood. I keep hearing this but it isn't exactly accurate as qi is not energy! We can measure energy with volt meters ect.. There are no true volt meters in acupuncture though I have seen them!
Also besides the language I found this video very good!
Rod, Awesome video. I'll send people here because It's the best I've found. I tap very similar using both hands balances the flow. Under the nose & chin point I do both simultaneously hold 2 fingers together in each hand, (pointy finger & middle finger extended) People who ask what to tap on 1st. I tell them write down 5 worst things that ever happened to them. The stuff that when we think about it, gives us a lump in the throat, tears in our eyes. Fears~Hurts, Anger~ Anxiety.
I first came across this technique about an hour ago while trying to find ways to help me quit smoking. I am very intrigued as I followed through the introductory video and amazingly I felt better and had a much lower craving. Oddly enough I'm not sure why I'm so surprised considering I already know a bit about the energy within humans and some on how to manipulate it. However the tapping method makes it so much easier. I will look into this further indeed. Great video btw.
@brankramp You are right in that when you are first learning you count the number of times you tap. I find that once I add the words in with the tapping that I don't count anymore; I just tap for as long as it takes me to say the words.
Great intro. I needed a shortcut to make it more appealing to try. Also, using both hands for the tapping is much more comfortable for me. Thanks for the video and info!

@rodsherwin Yes, it's in the upper body, chest, where anxiety is held, which is the impediment common to most of what EFT is used to address. Just from massaging my forearms I've released, eased much anxiety heaved from my chest. That's why I suggested those points. Really good video however I’ve a question, there seems to be some confusion on the collar bone point.
Most put it between the collar bone, the first rib and the sternum.
Is the best way to find it to first put your finger on the collar bone and just below this and above the first rib is the collar bone point.
You appear to have found after the first rib is that correct?
boundlesslife12 1 year ago
@boundlesslife12 Another way you can find the collarbone points is to run your fingers from the outside of the collarbones into the middle until you hit the lumps on either side of the U at the bottom of your throat. Once you hit the lumps, drop down directly below them in to the indentations just there. Everyone's collarbones are spaced differently so try to stay close to either side of the sternum.

@rodsherwin
Thanks for that but there is still a little confusion.
I see where you mean but sounds like that’s below the first rib not between the collar bone and the first rib?
boundlesslife12 1 year ago
@rodsherwin
Sorry for being a bit picky.

@boundlesslife12 The point is definitely K27 in acupuncture. It is between the first rib and the collarbone. Hope that helps.

Peace

I first came across this technique about an hour ago while trying to find ways to help me quit smoking. I am very intrigued as I followed through the introductory video and amazingly I felt better and had a much lower craving. Oddly enough I'm not sure why I'm so surprised considering I already know a bit about the energy within humans and some on how to manipulate it. However the tapping method makes it so much easier. I will look into this further indeed. Great video btw.

I like how you repeated left to right many times. It helps people remember to do it. Wish you had a short video going through the routine with words.

When and why would you do EFT? When you are doing EFT, how long should you tap each point?
Cre8YourWealth 2 years ago
Each point about 7-times. Nothing wrong if you tapp it from 5 to 9 times.

@brankramp You are right in that when you are first learning you count the number of times you tap. I find that once I add the words in with the tapping that I don't count anymore; I just tap for as long as it takes me to say the words.

Aha ok, yes you are right, I am learning :)

Great intro. I needed a shortcut to make it more appealing to try. Also, using both hands for the tapping is much more comfortable for me. Thanks for the video and info!
