@zam989s Griffin did travel but it was because he lifted his pivot foot prior to dribbling the ball. All of his movements after he started dribbling were legal.
I disagree. His dribble ends when he palms the ball (at 1:13 in the video). His left foot is on the floor and his right foot is off, meaning that his left foot is established as the pivot. He now cannot legally lift that foot and return it to the floor without passing or shooting, which he clearly does. Knight is correct--that is a *traveling* violation.
Bob Knight is correct. This goes for so much of the poor officiating out there when the officials go the opposite way and take over the game for one team or the other.
I agree traveling gets overlooked, but that's because the officials are focusing on much more important areas like contact by the defender. Unfortunate, but you can't catch everything.
the second ex. i think its not a travel coz his pivotal foot is still there he only move his other foot to move in front of the rim even if he move his non pivot foot many times oys not a travel haizzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
hansborough does this all the time. he can't do it in the NBA b/c u have to build ur friendship with the refs in the NBA. He's nothing now b/c the NBA refs hate him .
Im a ref & I think Knight is "the greatest coach," he explained traveling wrong. It is not how many times you step or move your feet, the key is what he does with his pivot foot. Although Hansbrough walked, it wasnt because he took 7 steps, it was b/c he lifted his pivot & brought it down before shooting. Same with Griffin. It may have been a walk but not for the reasons Knight stated. It appears he lifted his pivot & brought it down upon receiving the ball. Travel is hardest call in bball.
Hansblow might as well have walked to the rim there. That was terrible. He is right. You can take one step and pivot from that foot, but as long as that pivot foot doesn't lift then touch the floor again + no travel

second one seemed clean to me he kept a pivot foor and jumped off his non pivot foot

Oh I get it. So you can "shuffle" your pivot foot 5 or 6 feet, so long as you don't pick it up?
What are you? An NCAA ref?
ROFLMFAO!

zam989s
ur an idiot
that guy took 4 or 5 "shuffles" without a dribble
speaking of dribbles, this is the first thing I've seen Knight say that I actually agree with
jbage007 2 years ago
Traveling isn't about shuffles or anything like that, it's about the pivot foot.
buddaman200522 2 years ago
Shouldn't it have been called blocking foul b/c that guy was bumping Hansbrough out of the way?

I agree.

More officials are making the travelling call when Hansblow makes this move now. THANK YOU Bobby Knight. Thank you so much.
