As an English teacher, I LOVE how this show encouraged kids to learn the intricacies of language and the benefits of using language correctly and effectively. That's so positive and I think it has become very rare in children's entertainment these days. I get entirely too excited and language arts-fangirly when I watch these old episodes!
@MsTexas73 I used to watch this show on PBS all the time as a kid in Iowa in the early '80s. However, today's PBS has so much new junk, they'd never air these classic programs anymore. :(
@Dulcimerist Yeah, I agree it is JUNK now. I even remember PBS would air it LATE at night on the weekends even. I'd even take that. I wish I had the $. I'd create a retro channel just for old school educational programming.
@MsTexas73 A few years ago, the Noggin network would air classic Sesame Street and Electric Company, but then their budget got large enough that they could afford to air newer stuff. It's too bad that they never expanded to additional classic educational programs.
Classic, high-quality programming doesn't get recycled on TV anymore because there's too much money out there to fund and encourage new junk to be developed. ;)
When I was a kid watching this, I always thought that Otto wasted a lot of paper. It really bothered me about all that waste, too. LOL

@Dulcimerist Yes...that was before The N became a separate network and aired ALL DEGRASSI ALL THE TIME. But even Noggin doesn't have it QUITE right.
