I work on a base and I think it's great that same time everyday twice a day they play the National Anthem and everyone whether you're active duty or civilian must stand/stop, if driving you must also stop. I love it.

Lots of men do not remove their hats, caps....during the National Anthem either.

Yes, I agree I think it's beautiful when they do hold their hand over their heart. It's such a wonderful feeling, I always get teary-eyed.

Wonderfully done. It makes me sad that SOOOO many do NOT salute the flag during the national anthem though. When did respect for the flag dissappear? Bravo to those who actually DID have their hands over their heart!

@plbeck5kids1 Many do, but really you don't have to have your hand over your heart for the anthem, only the pledge of allegiance.

@Shelby596 Well of course, you don't HAVE TO. It is proper respect to do just that though. I am part of a military family, and whenever the national anthem is played in our military community, soldiers stand at attention (in or out of uniform), and civilians put thier hand over their heart. It goes completely silent. Thats the way it should be
