  • Doris Day sounds pretty good on your restored Philco. That is a very unique looking Philco. I like the rich looking front grill with the brass trim, and the radio on top, that is really different. I think you have real collectors item in excellent condition.

  • Thanks

I have not been back as I have had a bad head cold, but hope to do something this weekend.

It is a great little player.

    Thanks

    Richard

  • Thanks very much, I'm really enjoying this series! I have an old Canadian Philco system from the 1950's with a Garrard turntable that I hope to restore. Your photography and explanations will be a great help to me!

  • Hi

Very pleased you enjoyed the programme so far and like your video on LPs from the 70s I collect from the 50s and before on 10" and 78 rpm

    See you soon

    Richard

  • I recently aquired a DECCA stereo from a yard sale for 3$. It works, but the BSR needs some TLC. It has the same Ronette cartridge as your Philco. But it needs a needle, which costs more than I paid for the whole thing. It is also missing the flip over knob for the cartridge, I may just replace the whole thing (about 20$). Is it worth 25$ for a solid state stereo from the 60s? Back then it sold for about 80$ for the Radio Shack version in my '71 RS catalog. I wonder how much $ your Philco was?

  • Hi

Thanks for your comments great to get a response. It cost 99p (but I gave the guy £5.00 as I collected it in person and it was local)

    Regards

    Richard in the UK :)
