@IehoshuaIacobus But the BIBLE says NOT to. why would God go against his own word?? The word says a women should not Pray (& they do a lot of praying in the convent) with her head uncovered. (cut, trimmed, shaven) so what happens now??
@tsalas41 I understand devotion to God, but the idea of a woman being stripped of individuality and the forsaking beauty of womanhood seems wrong to me.
I remember the days before Vatican II, where this threw the older priests int a real snit.
@TheCoExister they always do that when a girl is becoming full nun, that's because they are not supposed to think of things as hairstyle and washing only think of what's inside. I mean why should they have hair if they always have the veil on and only should think about god and being good:)
@catholicpriest1 I think your right....probaby a Benedictine community. But the habit in the movie looks like the Poor Clare habit....maybe a mistake on the movie makers part.
@catholicpriest1 No, not a mistake. Clare joined a different order first. The Poor Clares did not yet exist. St. Clare founded them. The Poor Clares are named after her.
The hair is actually a wig. Reverend Mother Dolores had her longer hair trimmed for her role in the following year's "Lisa," 1962. She still had the longer hair in 1961's comedy, "Sail a Crooked Ship," her follow-up to "Francis of Assisi."
Mother Dolores is the the only nun to be a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. As well she is the prioress of the Abbey of Regina Laudis, a Benedictine monastic community in Bethlehem, Connecticut,

I have respect for Catholic sisters, but I don't see the point of this dreadful, sexless haircut. Yuck.

Why do you cut that hair off if the Bible Says a womens hair is her glory and it's covering fior her?? 1 Corinthians 11:6
tsalas41 1 month ago
@tsalas41 Precisely because it is her glory, she is laying everything aside bad AND good so that the Lord alone will be her lot.
