Here is an example how more LAW ABIDING citizens owning guns will lower violence:
Lets say that atleast 50% of the average woman in the US keeps a concealed gun on them. Now take into account all the muggings, rapes, assaults, etc today. With 50% of women owning guns, what criminal is going to rape a woman, knowing that there is a 50/50 chance that he will get his fucking head blown off?
So, what other points do I "fail" at, that I need to prove wrong?

If everyone in this country had a gun, the amount of good people having guns would heavily outweigh the bad people with guns.
If this dumbass host and I each had an attacker break in each of our homes, I can guarantee that I would still be alive because I can shoot my attacker dead.
Also, forget the fact that our country was able to be formed because we were able to fight off the imperial english with our guns.

If you think about it, it's incredibly near to impossible to stop a few million people marching outside of the nation's capitol, let alone the entire population. Being armed isn't the only way to stop a tyrannical government, and in fact it's usually one of the worst ways, since whatever you replace the government with is already very powerful. I'm not saying that we don't have the right to be armed, just advising against it. Information can be a better weapon than guns, when it's the truth.

Very true, but we have to be carefull about what information we take in. Our media is owned by a handfull of companies, so sometimes the truth can be stretched or skewed. Information and keepin ourselves informed is probably the best way to stop a tyrannical gov, but a gun should be a backup/last resort. A gun isnt a first option/solution, not every gun owner is gonna take matters into own hands like that, but there will always be that chance that things can get bad

I'll use an example, would you be more wiling to walk blindfolded through a field if you knew there was no ant hills, broken glass or other obstacles, or that there was a chance of their being debris? If you're living in a society, and you have to own a gun to feel safe, there are two possibilities:
1: You are mentally deranged and thus should not have a gun.
2: You are not living in an actual civilized society.
#2 doesn't mean that someone in a civilized society won't attack you or whatever. But if this society has so much of that going on that you need to carry a weapon to protect yourself, then that society is not civilized.

What's seems ironic to me, yet lost on most other people i meet, is that America is the only Libertarian country in the world, since i know of no other country that places so much emphasis on liberty as the USA. Yet those who identify themselves as libertarians in the US are a minority.

I've never understood why so many liberals take this stance. It's almost as if when it comes to this particular issue we enter bizarro world. What ever happened to empowering citizens? I guess the cops will defend us.

Mike Gallagher sets up a straw man. Who is proposing gun control legislation? Is it the liberal gun grabbing boogieman? I am a firm believer in a citizen's right to keep and bear arms. I see no evidence that the US government is planning to revoke this right. Owning a gun is an awesome responsibility. The idea that unstable inexperienced greenhorns like Gallagher plan to buy guns as a political statement scares the hell out of me.

Every time I hear a nutty neo-con talking like an idiot on TV or radio now, I go and check their Wikipedia page. Here's the biggest trend I've been finding... What do Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck and now Mike Gallagher all have in common? No college degrees. Not that college makes someone automatically smart, but I'm wondering if it's the reason why these people never learned how to be rational, respect facts, cite sources and value critical thinking.
