But yes, Opinel knives are quality, the wood on it, and the steel made for it is top drawer. Only to be used in the country though, for gutting rabbits and such, hares if you find them, tidy meat is the ol' hare.
I bought my first Opinel from a hardware store in France many years ago, and it's been in regular use since - so much so that it's never really found a permanent storage place, I just keep it on the kitchen window sill. One of the nicest things about an Opinel is how they age with you. If you take care of them, sharpen and oil them, they'll keep going for as long as you do, even if they look a little rough around the edges.
I just cut deep into my thumb with one of these, really hurt and bleed loads but at least ive learnt my lesson. Great knife and great review. Thankyou.
@djpj1111 I also have a No 2 & No 12 plus a couple of other knives reviewed, number 6 is No 1 from france for a good reason, a verry good reason, excelent VFM !!!!!
Oi'm from Birmingham I am!

A lot of people complain about swelling when it gets wet and won't open up easy .
It is a little stiff but is not hard to open .Been using one for twenty years now .
Has gotten wet ,full of oil and blood on it ( carried it with me as a medic) ,still
perfect .
